ok, I think I had them working but expected them to be larger than other tiles, like 32x32 lol ( or how the size they were when I opened up my .bmp file for the 32x32, they looked so nice there!) is there some way to make them that large?

The tiles need to be downloaded separately. Have you done that? If not, you need to get the tiles from http://angband.oook.cz/download/extra/graf-32x32-306.zip and unzip them into your lib/xtra/graf directory.

Yes I may have been mistaken that once used the 32x32 tiles would actually be this large during the game

is there some way to adjust my .ini or something so i can use the 32x32 tiles but have them be viewed much larger by default so i can see more of the detail?
I want to play the game with the tiles this large. . .

Not in Vanilla at this point, although bigtile mode will at least make the tiles take up the space of two characters; if you have a large enough screen, using a large font will improve the tile size. Sangband has a nice way of getting tiles at the size you want (which I don't fully understand), and Unangband and FAangband have a simpler double or triple size option.
Some of this will probably find it's way into Vanilla before too long.

Thanks for the help so far, meant to post again sooner but life keeps me busy, lol.
I have installed both UN and FA and neither can seem to initialize the graphics, any ideas why? I am very eager to try the double tile size options with the 32x32 tiles and also try out the 54x54!
:confused:

Which operating system are you using?

lol I suppose that might help, eH? Sorry about that, I'm on a windoze machine using XP.
I selected all the tile options and none get recognized.
I really am a fan of ascii and all but those tiles look sweet!
maybe one of these days, lol.

You can adjust the tile size by multiple use of "increase tile width" and "increase tile height" menu options.
Though matching the correct size ist not easy. Also this will give you a much smaller visible part of the dungeon on screen than with the smaller tiles. This can be a pain in the beginning of the game since the area effected by detection spells depends on screen size.
But, the Gervais tiles do look cool. :)

You're exactly right. You have to make the following modifications to the ini file.
[Term-0]
...
TileWid=8
TileHgt=13
instead, have the following
TileWid=32
TileHgt=32
if you are using big tile mode, you can instead use TileWid=16

Hi guys,
I've just download 3.0.9, on Win XP, and the extra 32x32 tiles - and I can switch to them ok, in-game. But I also would like them them to display at a larger size, but I can't find the ini file this thread refers to - there don't' appear to be any ini files in my angband folder tree. Can you help?
Thanks

On a Windows box, it defaults to c:\Program Files\Angband-3.0.9\ - assuming you installed 3.0.9. The file is that folder.

I kind of have the opposite problem...
I have installed Angband on my Ubuntu box and I can't get the old tiles to function. I get the newer one's or text nothing else. I start with
angband -g -mx11 -- -n4 -o
and it gives me ASCII. if i leave out the -o i get the new tiles.
I want the old ones, they are the ones I'm used to. I have the 8X8.bmp in angband/xtra/graf
What should I do?
