FrogComposband video
I've made a Frog video, intended for people familiar with roguelikes who want to get into Frog. Have a look if you're interested.

Never played Frog. I find this video very useful for players that already know how to play *bands. Thank you!

This playthrough is now done. Final character sheet here:
http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=24602 Final video here: https://youtu.be/9n_OgNPLt5U I'm currently not planning on doing another playthrough, as using the content creation side of YouTube is a special kind of torture. Maybe at some point I'll do another one. |
Special kind of torture? What video capture settings do you use?
I've uploaded many playthroughs (though, mostly incomplete) and I had nil difficulty keeping them there |
My experience is that I had to upload a video around three times on average before the YouTube processing actually worked, and even then half my videos ended up having glitched out video and/or audio, which is incredibly frustrating.
So I would upload a video, wait for it to finish processing (or get stuck/fail in which case I'd have to start over) and then skim through the video to make sure nothing glitched out. First time through something was almost always messed up in the YouTube vid, so I'd have to delete it and start again. I was actually hoping to upload the last two videos on Saturday, but I had so many failures at YouTube's processing stage that I only got them out on Monday, and even then it looks like the second to last one did in fact glitch out, because YouTube still hasn't processed it in HD. I was using OBS Studio's default settings, the only alteration I made was to change the output format to .mp4 |
I'm thinking the corruption could be due to low upload bandwidth, maybe? Looking at your videos, 1080p60 is already an option and shouldn't be corrupt.
Of note, MP4 fails if OBS does not encode correctly or suddenly corrupts the video. Any reason why you're using MP4? With MKV, the file is accessible for the most part, like at least > 90% of intended recorded content, should the recording get interrupted in event of a sudden system down. I used to rely on MP4 until I lost complete a great OBS PosChengband recording a few years ago. Once I switched from MP4 to MKV, I never looked back. Maybe try recording only as MKV and check for first upload attempts on YouTube for any differences. Maybe, you'll get better results with MKV. On my 2014 laptop rig, my most recent OBS settings are: Video FPS: 48 FPS Output resolution: 1920x1080 Recording format: MKV Encoder: x264 Rate control: CRF CRF (setting): 23 CPU Usage Preset: superfast Profile: (none) Tune: (none) VBR: OFF Audio bitrate: 160 Audio sample rate: 48 KHz Channels: Stereo It is through these settings I get the best balance between quality vs. size of the MKV video file, because of the 2014 hardware. My 2014 laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P55W-B5220 model with a base 1.7 GHz 4th gen dual core i5, 16GB RAM, Intel HD 4400 integrated GPU, and 240GB SATA SSD. I have a much newer 2020 CLEVO laptop with much more powerful specs normally recording at 90 FPS, which I've put away because I'm a break from it :D |
Yeah it most likely is due to my crappy internet. Thanks for the detailed post, I'll definitely make some changes if I decide to do more videos.

Decided to start a new playthrough, a Yellow-Mage this time. Hopefully it's different enough from the Warrior playthrough to be interesting.
