Why no tile support in x11 port?

Can I ask why tile support was removed from the X11 port?

Trac for main-x11.c shows:

[833] 04/09/08 14:25:51 takkaria Remove tile support from the X11 port.

I used to use it all the time with 3.0.9 & whenever it was introduced prior to that (never could get used to ascii mode). Is there some other change(s) that made this necessary?

It gets no mention in the "Notable up-front UI changes" (http://rephial.org/release), and the Port section only mentions addition of the -x option to x11. Surely it's a substantial enough change to warrant mention.

puzzled...

cheers,

- b.

The tile code wasn't GPL-clean, so I removed it. Have you tried the SDL port?

Ah ok (still, a mention to that effect in the notes would be good). Hadn't thought of using the SDL port being so used to using the x11 port. I'll give it a shot.
