Angband variants table
To understand Angband variants (to 'feel' this phenomenon) and to find interesting ideas for my variant, I've started research at different web-resources (Roguebasin, oook, The Angband Variant Repository). It's great websites, but as there are so many variants - I thought it will be fun to bring all needed information and links to _one_ web-page; so you do not need to walk through hundreds of hyperlinks to get all basic information about variants. So I've combined all these sources under one table at my website:
https://tangaria.com/variants/ There are only two fields - name (with the link to source) and description; so you could read everything without clicking around while drinking a cup of tea :) It's a draft for now, but I'll maintain it and will make it up-to-date in time ;) |
FAangbandCE is just the Windows CE port of FAangband, there is no need for a separate entry.

Thanks, fixed :)

You could add your descriptions to the wiki here:
https://wiki.angband.live/index.php/...gband_variants |
Thanks, but for now I'm using old wiki @ roguebasin :) But it's cool that you are making an alternative. Roguebasin got nice variant's table: http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?...gband_variants ; thought it requires a lot of clicking over links to read basics about variants (that's why I've started my table; for lazy people like me, to read from 1 page).
Btw https://angband.live is finally accessible in Russia! I'll make streams soon ;) I've added link to angband.live at https://tangaria.com/contacts/ |
I was really, really curious what Cumband was, then I realized it actually was Gumband. That's an interesting font you've chosen...
|
Thanks for a feedback ;) I didn't had such trouble.. and table is sorted in alphabetical order so it's quite hard to misunderstand C and G anyway
p.s. Cumband is a nice name for a variant, anyway.. :D |
Rocketband?

Thanks :) It's outdated; I didn't include even my variant yet. At next week I'll update table and make it up-to-date, including all variants ever ;)
|
Added several variants, including some pre-alpha ones (like Starband). Can't find anything else. Please help me to fill the table - share any variants which I've missed and propose descriptions. I've also turned on comments under table - so you could directly write additions right there.

According to some info, PosChengband is updated recently to 7.2.1 and should appear in yellow color.
|
Thanks, fixed! Also updated PosChengband link and description
|
Your description of Cthangband is out of date.
Both the skill system and speed system have been removed in more recent versions because they weren't working out. |
Thanks! Updated description, link and status.
I'll be glad include more detailed descriptions on variants if someone will provide them :) |
You are a saint. This should be stickied!
|
Glad you like it! :) If anyone got new info about variants - don't hesitate to post in this topic, I'll update the table

One thing it would be great to see on your table is a column to show the date of last update. That was the one thing I found myself still clicking into each link I was interested in to determine if it was outdated, abandoned, current, etc. Thanks for putting in the work for it! :) |
Not merely exhaustive, but exhausting! Kudos!
