lately i've been playing a couple games of risk at conquerclub.com
|
I'm a big fan of a Japanese shooting game series called the Touhou Project, and my personal ambition is to someday create a roguelike in that setting.
I have also been enjoying Puzzle Quest for the Nintendo DS recently. |
I've been playing Kingdom of Loathing for a month (it even has a "Nethack" dungeon), but without ascending. I got stuck in the Topiary Maze and going further is too tedious.

Kingdom of Loathing, Strange Adventures in Infinite Space, and Weird Worlds are all favorites of mine (the hedge maze is EASY once you figure out how to use the little puzzles). Now and then I play a few games of Spheres of Chaos, or Zuma Deluxe, or an old-time RPG called Realmz.

Lately, I've been playing mafia, a kind of socializing campfire game.
I've never really been into video games much but I've enjoyed the Baldur's Gate series in the past. Mission Thunderbolt is one of the greatest roguelike-dungeoncrawl games ever made that I've seen (as well as the sequel, Misson Firestorm), though unfortunately it was only really released for classic mac os so I haven't been able to play for a while. I think that Home of the Underdogs has a rather buggy demo for windows - you should check it out for a really good example of how to integrate nice graphics and sounds into a roguelike, without a cumbersome or hard to use interface. It was in fact the very first roguelike that I ever played. Also, (since it was mentioned here a couple times), I've been playing KoL on and off for a couple years. |
I play multiplayer StarCraft or Thief series from time to time. Lately I've got totally hooked on ADOM, which just prooves that roguelikes > other video games.
Other than that, I play volleyball semi-regularly. |

I'm surprised there aren't more games similar to Angband being discussed in this thread though, heh. |
KoL update: I ascended a few days ago and find it rather boring to repeat it all again with only minor help (you can use items from previous ascensions and retain one skill, but mostly, actually, you can't due to lack of power or MP).

<edit> Oh, one game I did forget to mention... Legend of the Green Dragon, at http://lotgd.net/. Based on the old old Telnet game Legend of the Red Dragon, now web-based, and jolly good fun. |

(I actually have three Mr. As, which makes a fairly huge difference in the early levels. What can I say, I'm lazy.) |
