Dropped by a priest at DL10? That's memorable. Especially after Smeagol, Wormtongue, and Bullroarer dropped nothing but gold!

Ugramoth November 13, 2018 01:20

Together, not bad

Some things I'm wearing now:

Iron Helm of Dorisil [7,+9] <+4>
Dropped by Brodda, the Easterling at 1450 feet (level 29)

+4 speed
provides resistance to fire, cold, sound.
Cannot be harmed by acid

Pair of Leather Sandals of Areth [1,+17] <+3>
Dropped by Kavlax the Many-Headed at 1700 feet (level 34)

+3 intelligence
Provides resistance to dark, nether, disenchantment.
Provides protection from blindness.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains constitution.
Speeds regeneration. Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it creates a large fire ball with damage 200.

Looks like the shoemaker got drunk with helmet maker and their design docs got mixed up...

Thraalbee December 21, 2018 17:36

For once played around after winning looking for more randarts. This body armour is pretty complete!
Code:

g) the Multi-Hued Dragon Scale Mail 'Arosgal' (-2) [45,+37] <+3, +4, +1>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 5250 feet (level 105)

    +3 intelligence.
    +4 constitution.
    +1 light.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, poison, light,
dark, sound, shards, nether, chaos, disenchantment.
Provides protection from fear, confusion, stunning.
Speeds regeneration.  Prevents paralysis.  Aggravates creatures
    nearby.

When activated, it attempts to magically enhance a weapon's to-dam
    bonus.
Takes 688 to 1008 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 95.3%

Thraalbee December 21, 2018 17:38

Generated a spoiler on death and saw another nice armour in the same set (didn't find it though).

Code:

the Balance Dragon Scale Mail of Aradagaed (-2) [50,+26] <+5, +3, +1>
---------------------------------------------------------------------
+5 constitution.
+3 searching skill.
+1 speed.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, poison, light, dark, sound,
shards, nexus, chaos, disenchantment.
Provides protection from fear, blindness, confusion.
Sustains dexterity, constitution.
Grants telepathy.  Sustains your life force.

When aimed, it randomly breathes a cone of sound, shards, chaos or
disenchantment with width 20 degrees, dealing 250 damage at the source.
Takes 50 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 95.8%

Min Level 100, Max Level 127, Generation chance 8, Power 722, 28.0 lbs
Random dragon armor of power 722.

Egavactip February 12, 2019 02:13

Not too bad for a Dungeon Level 15 drop!

1 Attachment(s)
This is going to come in handy. Although it probably just means something will immediately kill me.

Hmm. That screenshot is appearing way too small. I don't know why. So here's the item:

Short Bow 'Coimor' (x4) (+19, +18) <+2>
+2 shooting speed
+2 shooting power
Provides immunity to fire
Provides protection from fear
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire
Sustains constitution.

When activated, it grants cold resistance for d20+20 turns and create a cold ball of damage 75. Takes 90 to 110 turns to recharge. Your chance of success is 83.3%.

Congrats on switching class to ranger.

Or if you already were a ranger, I guess now you're a machinegun.

I was not a Ranger, just a poor fighter who became a de facto ranger. Little did I know that this bow would be the last good artifact I would get for a long long time. Used a weapon of westernesse all the way to CL49, so that bow was the only thing I had to take out big nasties.

I think even the game felt guilty because right before the final battles it coughed up The One Ring for me.

I just posted this one to the ladder, with more details: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=22313

Egavactip February 17, 2019 05:58

I should mention that this same game had a Heavy Crossbow artifact that was x7. It had +2 shooting speed and +3 shooting power or something like that. First time I had ever seen a +3.

However, it "aggravated creatures nearby" so I never picked it up.

If you're shooting them in the face three times a second, they tend to get pretty aggravated anyway.

Good lord, you should at least have kept it for the Sauron and Morgoth fights. Being able to do effectively 21x damage with bolts (or 24x with Slay Evil bolts) is [i]ridiculous[/b]. Say the bow and the bolts have +20 damage between them, and the bolts are only 1d5. That's 483 damage per turn for some pretty poorly-enchanted gear. If it was +30, 1d5 Slay Evil bolts, then it'd be 792 damage per turn.

Ugramoth February 28, 2019 07:01

Insane shovel

I've seen some post in the past that Morgoth has been killed with shovel. I think I found that shovel...

Shovel of Rilgas (3d2) (+20,+31) <+4, +2, +1>
Dropped by Rogrog the Black Troll at 2000 feet.
+4 intelligence
+2 wisdom
+1 constitution
+2 searching
+1 light
Slays undead (powerfully), dragons, demons, giants, orcs, animals, evil creatures.
Branded with poison.
Provides resistance to dark.
Provides protection from stunning.
Sustains dexterity. Grants the ability to see invisible things. Sustains your life force. Blessed by the gods.

Appropriate that a troll was carrying a weapon that literally slays everything that isn't a troll...

Thraalbee February 28, 2019 13:26

Awesome! Slays don't do much for a 3d2 weapon though, but I'd still be vary happy to find that shovel.

Ugramoth March 1, 2019 01:53

Dafug? I don't remember Tolkien mentioning any genius shovel maker, yet here I am, fretting over which shovel to use:

Shovel of Machaure (3d2) (+12,+21) [+20] <+1>
Found lying on the floor at 2100 feet

+1 light
Slays dragons (powerfully), demons (powerfully), undead, trolls, animals, evil creatures.
Branded with weak acid.
Provides resistance to acid, fire, cold, sound.
Provides protection from fear.
Sustains dexterity.
Grants telepathy. Grants the ability to see invisible things. Prevents paralysis.

Ugramoth March 2, 2019 04:10

RNG gods are being nice

So mage of the Two Mighty Shovels has to wield option 1 for stun resistance and could not use 2 for telepathy. Therefore, he has to rely on puny helm of telepathy instead of artifact helm with stat bonuses...
"Oh thanks Smaug, just what I needed!":
Hard Leather Cap 'Telwin' [2, +11] <+1, +3>
Dropped by Smaug the golden at 2400 feet.

+1 strength
+3 intelligence
+3 wisdom
+1 light
Provides resistance to fire, dark.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Feather Falling. Grants telepathy. Grants the ability to see invisible things.

Well, still lacking key resistances of sound and shards and has to wear stupid ring of resist poison...
"OK, this will do!":
Band of Haleb <+3, +5, +2, +1>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 2450

+3 strength
+5 intelligence
+2 dexterity
+1 light
Provides immunity to lightning.
Provides resistance to poison, dark, sound, shards.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by lightning.
Slows your metabolism. Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it creates a large frost ball with damage 200.

Thraalbee March 8, 2019 20:00

My rogue suddenly got a lot stealthier! (2x iirc)

h) the Fur Cloak of Wildo [3,+16] <+3, +6, +1>
Dropped by Bill the Stone Troll at 1850 feet (level 37)

+3 intelligence.
+6 stealth.
+1 light.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

[Sigh. 30seconds later dead to a pack of gravity hounds...]

kandrc March 8, 2019 23:15

Just found. I didn't know it was that kind of dungeon!

Code:

the Zweihander of Dildo (3d6) (+14,+11) <+2>
Taken from a chest found at 2500 feet (level 50)

A sword designed for two hands.

+2 speed.
Slays undead (powerfully), demons (powerfully).
Provides resistance to fire, cold, light.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Speed regeneration.

:D This one wins the game! Let the jokes begin.

On a more serious note, it looks like the 's' verb ending is missing in "Speed regeneration." Bug?

Therem Harth March 9, 2019 14:51

Not the first one either. Last item of Dildo IIRC was a mattock with bonuses to tunneling and constitution.

Edit: here we go!

Transposition error, all mine.

Therem Harth March 11, 2019 21:11

Code:

d) The Heavy Crossbow of Doliel (x4) (+14,+10) (+4)
It provides light (radius 1).  It increases your strength,
intelligence, wisdom, dexterity and constitution by 4.  It fires
missiles excessively fast.  It cannot be harmed by acid, cold,
    lightning or fire.

Just picked this one up right now.

Mace of Disruption of Caldir (10d8) (+5, +12) <+2>
+2 constitution
Slays evil creates, undead
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

5.0 blows/round.
With +3 STR and +0 DEX you would get 5.2 blows
Average damage/round: 770 vs evil creatures, 1046.5 vs. undead, and 493 vs. others.

Clears rubble in 1.4 turns, magma veins in 3.2 turns, quartz veins in 6.9 turns, and granite in 17 turns.

My character has strength of 18/190 right now, so +3 strength to get even more doesn't seem achievable, but 770 vs evil seems like as nice as an endgame weapon as I've ever seen.

Egavactip March 12, 2019 01:32

Just got an elven ring, allowing me to make some swaps, so now damage is 841.6 vs. evil.

Egavactip March 12, 2019 02:29

Sauron just dropped the One Ring. This character has gotten all the gots to get. Elven ring, RoS +17, awesome weapon, now the One Ring...

Egavactip March 12, 2019 02:53

If anybody cares, the character, having won, is now on the ladder: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=22353

Thraalbee March 21, 2019 17:54

+36 shooter

b) the Short Bow of Amaramarm (x3) (+18,+36) <+6, +1>
Dropped by Gorlim, Betrayer of Barahir at 1950 feet (level 39)

+6 strength.
+1 shooting power.
+1 light.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it detects invisible creatures nearby.
Takes 93 to 102 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 80.9%

Derakon March 21, 2019 19:18

"Am a ram arm" sounds pretty good; with that bow I bet you could punch through doors with your fists.

Adam March 23, 2019 14:50

Not the strongest item but on level 23 (including 2 DD) it's quite an improvement. Narya without iFire.
Perfect for my mage who does not need wisdom or dexterity.

the Ring of Iloth <+2, +3, +1, +5>
Dropped by Mughash the Kobold Lord at 1150 feet (level 23)

+2 strength.
+3 intelligence.
+1 constitution.
+3 stealth.
+5 speed.
+1 light.
Provides resistance to acid, light.
Cannot be harmed by lightning.
Grants telepathy. Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it creates a frost bolt with damage 12d8.
Takes 85 to 94 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 94.6%

Thraalbee March 25, 2019 21:12

Smile happy

The name of this one is "smile happy" in Swedish. I believe I know why... except wiruin made a double suprise move on me soon after finding it (and losing sound resist on the swap) so not so happy face after all. Still, (+19,+20) is awseome even without the weapon branding.

the Ring 'Leglad' (+19,+20) [+7] <+3, +6, +1> {a:lifedrain}
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 3600 feet (level 72)

+3 intelligence.
+6 dexterity.
+1 light.
It causes your melee attacks to slay undead (powerfully).
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, poison, shards.
Provides protection from blindness.
Cannot be harmed by lightning.
Grants the ability to see invisible things. Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it drains up to 120 hit points of life from a
target creature. Does not affect undead, demons, golems,
elementals or vortices.
Takes 303 to 370 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 91.5%

(Nightlies)

Grotug March 26, 2019 02:39

HT Warrior dilemma to itself: "man, what should I wear, this ring of damage +14 or the ring of DEX +6? God, I wish I could wear both!"

Very nice find. Too bad that with it you had to live out the old cliche.

RegalStar May 8, 2019 21:57

the Set of Leather Gloves of Galaul (+7,+8) [1,+18]
Dropped by a crystal drake at 1850 feet (level 37)

Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

I've only been playing this game for like a month but this is the saddest randart I've seen, and probably will be seeing for a long while.

Derakon May 8, 2019 22:20

Honestly that's a pretty nice set of combat bonuses. It's not better than Cambeleg or Fingolfin, but it probably beats any other pair of standart gauntlets for melee-heavy characters.

Pete Mack May 8, 2019 22:44

Yeah, with a melee character I'd wear those until I found good gloves of power. +7+8 is a large bonus for gloves.

Estie May 9, 2019 02:32

Right, I found this one recently:

the Mace of Disruption 'Aereb' (14d8) (+9,+8)
Found lying on the floor of a special room at 4650 feet (level 93)

Slays undead.
Provides resistance to fire.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Grants the ability to see invisible things.

The "special room" was just a small one with 2 1x3 cells in the middle. I didnt even see the base item; I had detected treasures and walked over this weapon, picking it up to have my chin fall off.

Later I found an armor piece that granted *slay* dragon, for almost 3k listed damage versus those. I think Ancalagon took 6 turns to vanquish.

Against Morgoth it is of course no better than a 7d8 weapon which slays evil; given its low enchantment, I bet Deathwreaker does more damage.

Estragon May 9, 2019 10:43

First artifact I found on my ironman gnome necromancer (latest nightly):

the Broad Axe 'Farme' (3d6) (+12,+19)
Conjured forth by magic at 1200 feet (level 24)

+3 dexterity.
+3 searching skill.
+1 attack speed.
Slays undead (powerfully).
Branded with weak acid.
Provides resistance to acid, chaos.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Feather falling.

When activated, it heals 1000 hitpoints.
Takes 91 to 123 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 96.8%

4.3 blows/round.
Average damage/round: 213.4 vs. creatures not resistant to acid, 360.6 vs. undead, and 164.5 vs. others.

Thraalbee May 9, 2019 16:24

Wow, nice and quite short recharge time too!

Sky May 11, 2019 23:11

all 3 in the same set:
the Mace of Disruption 'Finivind' (7d8) (+10,+5) <+2>
-----------------------------------------------------
+2 attack speed.
Slays undead (powerfully), dragons (powerfully), demons, giants, trolls, evil
creatures.
Branded with acid.
Provides immunity to lightning.
Provides resistance to fire.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains strength.
Slows your metabolism. Grants the ability to see invisible things. Aggravates
creatures nearby.

When activated, it teleports a target monster away.
Takes 90 to 110 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 93.7%

Min Level 70, Max Level 127, Generation chance 16, Power 464, 36.0 lbs
Random hafted of power 464.

*

the Lochaber Axe of Avale (8d8) (+5,+11)

Min Level 43, Max Level 127, Generation chance 22, Power 249, 25.0 lbs
Random polearm of power 249.

the Spear of Harothad (7d6) (+11,+20) <+3>

Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

Min Level 20, Max Level 127, Generation chance 3, Power 234, 4.5 lbs

RegalStar May 12, 2019 16:04

the Golden Crown of Thiri [0,+13] <+3, +4, +2> {cursed}
-------------------------------------------------------
It makes it hard to hit anything.
+3 strength.
+4 intelligence.
+2 wisdom.
+3 speed.
Provides resistance to sound.
Provides protection from blindness.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Slows your metabolism. Grants telepathy.

When activated, it cures blindness and gives you telepathy for 9d9+24 turns.
Takes 82 to 100 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 98.2%

On a more positive note, this is something I've found on another character I have:

the Quarterstaff of Angion (3d9) (+13,+30) <+3, +2>
Dropped by Ancalagon the Black at 3700 feet (level 74)

+3 strength.
+2 attack speed.
Slays undead, dragons, orcs, evil creatures.
Branded with acid.
Provides resistance to fire, chaos.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

When activated, it raises your dexterity at the expense of a
random attribute.
Takes 676 to 1072 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 93.3%

Combat info:
7.0 blows/round.
This weapon may benefit from one or more off-weapon brands or
slays.
Average damage/round: 744.8 vs. creatures not resistant to poison,
744.8 vs. creatures not resistant to acid, 744.8 vs. undead, 744.8
vs. dragons, 744.8 vs. orcs, 628.6 vs. evil creatures, and 511.7
vs. others.

Sky May 12, 2019 16:46

i always forgot to report that, i also have seen randarts where the activation is redundant because of a permanent power.

gglibertine June 27, 2019 15:39

I found an otherwise unremarkable randart yesterday that activated to restore DEX. Not really useful, but I love the increased randomness of randarts.

Ugramoth July 8, 2019 08:49

Main Gauche of Angol (3d5) (+11, +5) <+3, +1>
Dropped by Brodda, the Easterling at 550 feet (level 11)

+3 intelligence
+1 wisdom
+1 constitution
+1 tunneling
+1 attack speed
Slays demons (powerfully), giants, trolls, evil creatures.
Branded with poison.
Provides resistance to fire.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Grants the ability to see invisible things. Blessed by the gods.

When activated, it restores your constitution.
Takes 82 to 100 turns to recharge.

At this depth, definitely a game-changer.

Pete Mack July 10, 2019 20:55

Estie missed posting this from his recent win in the ladder. It deserves special mention. (And yes, this is V 4.1.3 randarts.) He is getting 2 extra blows off-weapon as well.

Activates for *Heal*, and it *doesn't even aggravate* is just guilding the lily.

a) the Mace of Disruption 'Tumlalmar' (8d8) (+15,+15) <+2, +3>
Dropped by Thuringwethil, the Vampire Messenger at 4850 feet
(level 97)

+2 strength.
+3 intelligence.
Slays dragons (powerfully), demons (powerfully), undead, giants,
animals, evil creatures.
Branded with acid.
Provides resistance to acid, chaos.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains constitution.
Blessed by the gods.

When activated, it heals 1200 hit points, cut damage, and cures
stunning, poisoning, blindness, and confusion.
Takes 588 to 792 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 94.3%

Combat info:
7.0 blows/round.
This weapon may benefit from one or more off-weapon brands or
slays.
Average damage/round: 1040.9 vs. creatures not resistant to
poison, 1368.5 vs. creatures not resistant to acid, 2023.7 vs.
dragons, 2023.7 vs. demons, 1368.5 vs. undead, 1368.5 vs. giants,
1040.9 vs. animals, 1040.9 vs. evil creatures, and 713.3 vs.
others.

Estie July 11, 2019 01:25

Thanks for rectifying that, then. Yes, it has all the goodies except for extra blows, and it only slays (not *slays*) undead. Bummer (:

A toast on Thuringwethil, who generously donated this masterwork piece by her timely demise.

Sky August 5, 2019 20:18

there's also a +2 blows there from something else in your equipment, which would take the base damage under 1k.

Sky August 18, 2019 19:44

V 4.2
the Set of Alchemist's Gloves of Edirimran (+11,+13) [0,+15] <+1>
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Highly protective gloves designed for an alchemist's elemental magics.

+1 wisdom.
Provides immunity to fire.
Provides resistance to cold, nether.
Provides protection from confusion.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Feather Falling. Prevents paralysis.

gglibertine August 27, 2019 15:08

This'll do for my elf rogue, I guess:

The Glaive of Cargol (4d6) (+8,+22) [+3] <+4, +3>
Dropped by Bullroarer the Hobbit at 650 feet (level 13)

+4 intelligence.
+3 dexterity.

Branded with cold.
Provides resistance to cold, poison.
Provides protection from confusion.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains intelligence, dexterity.
Grants the ability to see invisible things. Prevents paralysis.
Blessed by the gods.

Derakon August 27, 2019 15:19

Yeah, that'd do it. At 5 blows/round that's 250 damage vs. evil from the weapon itself, not counting any STR bonuses, crits, off-weapon damage bonuses, etc.

No added bonuses yet, but I'm only at DL15. There's a long way to go, but this should speed things up nicely. A nice longbow of power and arrows of wounding to round it out, too. Time for a deeper dive!

Estie August 27, 2019 19:57

FA, SI and poison resistance also makes it rival a defender weapon. Yah, that“ll do.

Ed_47569 September 6, 2019 18:17

My warrior just found this playing 4.2.0. Level feeling was 2-9.

Not even fully ID'd it yet!

[Character Equipment]

These randarts are getting crazy! My current 4.2.0 mage just found BOTH these rings in a small vault at 2950'. Straight upgrades from Rings of Con and Int.

 Kemnarath may be the best ring I've seen ever; whether in the dungeon or posted on the forum. Most rings with +2 attack speed have little else useful on them. I hope you put it to good use!

I have indeed, it's given my Level 40 Mage the option of being a warrior! With Banishment and Mass Banishment spells as a backup... :)

My level 12 mage takes this over The One, thank you very much.

Pete Mack February 14, 2020 20:16

At dl 11 that is insane. What is it's actual native depth? In fact that is insane at any level: no standart necklace is remotely near that thing in power.

Estie February 14, 2020 20:42

Yes insane. Checking:

Min Level 77, Max Level 127, Generation chance 11, Power 525

It is actually a legit RoP (not amulet), the kind Orfax doesnt normally drop.

Things like FA, SI, rbase are hardly valuable if you find it at depth, but for a naked mage everything is awesome. And yes, a priest would love it even more.

Ed_47569 February 19, 2020 23:54

My Dunadan Mage just found these two items at 1750'. Speed 0 to Speed +14 in one go!

This is just memorable because it's terrible...
the Quarterstaff of Ildare (1d9) (+7,-7) <-3> {cursed}

It makes it hard to hit anything.

Ugramoth March 7, 2020 04:29

Found on level 9!

Level 16 mage is very happy now. He kept casting identify after identify and this thing just keeps having ?? on it...

Dagger of Malionar (1d4) (+9, +6) [+14] <+5, +1>:
Found lying on the floor at 450 feet (level 9)

+5 wisdom
+1 constitution
Slays demons (powerfully), giants, trolls, orcs, animals, evil creatures.
Branded with poison.
Provides immunity to lightning.
Provides resistance to shards, chaos.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Sustains intelligence, wisdom, dexterity, constitution.
Slows your metabolism. Grants telepathy. Grants the ability to see invisible things. Prevents paralysis. Blessed by the gods.

When activated, it creates a frost bolt with damage 12d8.
Takes 57 to 63 turns to recharge.

Some troll warrior might grumble about 1d4 +6 damage, but high-elf mage, not so much. I don't remember *ever* seeing telepathy or immunity items at this depth, and getting them in all-in-one package wouldn't be too bad for something found in vault at 4000 feet...

Ed_47569 March 7, 2020 21:06

That's a fantastic find - would be even better for a priest though!

At Level 9, getting FA and SI on a single item is fantastic, never mind all the rest.

Grotug March 8, 2020 01:14

pair of launchers:

The Heavy Crossbow of Niria (x7) (+6, +27) <+3>
provides resistance to lightning, light
protects against confusion
sustains Intelligence,
prevents paralysis
Activates frostball (50 damage)

You show me a better launcher. You can't. But I can:

The Long Bow of Idrimon (x6) (+13, +29) <+3>
branded with cold
provides resistance to fire, acid, cold
protects against fear
slows metabolism and sustains life force.
Activates for Berserker Rage d50+50 turns.

Both of these launchers were dropped within minutes of each other from slayed uniques (ringwraiths).

SI? That item has ESP which makes SI even unnecessary.

Estie March 12, 2020 18:18

the Awl-Pike of Halmion (7d8) (+8,+14)
Dropped by a dark elven lord at 1700 feet (level 34)

Slays dragons (powerfully), demons, orcs.
Provides resistance to light.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

Combat info:
4.0 blows/round.
With +3 STR and +0 DEX you would get 4.3 blows
With +0 STR and +2 DEX you would get 4.5 blows
Average damage/round: 782.4 vs. dragons, 512.8 vs. demons, 512.8
vs. orcs, and 243.2 vs. others.

There have been better weapons in this thread, and earlier, but after having to make do with a beaked axe of frost (< 200 damage) for most of the time, this feels great.

Slay orc is, alas, obsolete; I killed Azog and his son on the last level, with a shortbow of power and frost arrows.

Edit:

Luck continues for this character:

the Bar Chain Mail 'Harnor' (-1,+8) [45,+17] <+1>
Dropped by Mīm, Betrayer of Turin at 2900 feet (level 58)

+1 attack speed.

I don't know if this is super good for DL55, But it's good lol. +38 is a lot.

Grotug March 23, 2020 02:10

well your damage numbers are super good for DL55. 448.6 to evil at that depth is very good.

LordRotharoth March 23, 2020 13:02

Well, yes, warrior with like 18/174 strength hits that hard lol

LordRotharoth March 23, 2020 23:41

Found lying on the floor at 50 feet (level 1)

+3 infravision.

Provides resistance to light.
Cannot be harmed by fire.
Sustains your life force.

Combat info:
3.3 blows/round.
With +1 STR and +0 DEX you would get 3.7 blows
With +0 STR and +1 DEX you would get 3.5 blows

Dropped by a scout at 1300 feet (level 26)

A Light Crossbow from my current Angband.live! character. The damage output is huge - even just ordinary bolts do almost 200 points. I shudder to think what a branded Seeker bolt is going to be like. Not quite as good as Grotug's pair of launchers, but 'l take it -

the Light Crossbow of Andorn (x5) (+12,+32) <+3, +2> {Dex+3,FA,ac}
Found lying on the floor at 1600 feet (level 32)

A mechanical bow made of wood, it is cocked to augment the strength of its wielder.

+3 dexterity.
+2 shooting power.
Provides resistance to acid, cold.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains dexterity.
Prevents paralysis.

A godsend for my dwarven racket priest:

the Dagger 'Dorog' (4d4) (+12,+24) <+4, +3>
Found lying on the floor at 2550 feet (level 51)

+4 wisdom.
+4 dexterity.
+3 stealth.
Slays undead (powerfully).
Branded with weak poison.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, dark, nexus.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Sustains dexterity.
Blessed by the gods.

When activated, it gives you information on the health and
abilities of monsters you can see.
Takes 65 to 72 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 91.4%

Combat info:
3.1 blows/round.
With +1 STR and +0 DEX you would get 3.3 blows
With +0 STR and +1 DEX you would get 3.4 blows
Average damage/round: 136.6 vs. creatures not resistant to poison,
234 vs. undead, and 104.2 vs. others.

It replaced a HA +1 that did half the damage.

Well, this is memorably terrible:

t) the Star 'Egyth' <-2, -3> {cursed}

It makes your skin harder to damage, but conduct electricity.
It paralyses you every now and then.
It makes you hallucinate sometimes.

It's a shame I'm a low leveled mage, and not something really good that gets a ton of damage :(

Wut ? that weapon is made for a mage. The rest on it is also nice, +3 str FA pconf.

Pete Mack May 23, 2020 21:10

Not to mention 34 damage per blow with on-weapon bonuses only.

LordRotharoth May 24, 2020 00:08

Yes, I'm aware of the intelligence boost, but I like doing damage, still a great weapon in my opinion.

The character I just won with today, a Paladin, ended up having some pretty darn nifty randarts, for anybody who might be interested: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=23590
