Smite?

I like the way that 3.1.0 notes that a particular branding is effective on a monster. "You burn xxx" means that your flame-branded weapon is effective against the monster. The similar messages for cold, acid, etc are also helpful.

It would be great if this were captured in monster memory as well. As it stands, you only know resistances.

Now to my question, I've seen "You hit xxx" and I assume that my branded weapon only "hits" the monster because the monster is resistant to the particular brand(s).

What the heck does "You smite xxx" mean???

It means your weapon has a slay for that monster race. Same thing for ammo that "pierces" a monster.

Thanks. I just couldn't figure that one out.

Yeah, I usually find most enemies I smite dying in one turn... unless they're a unique of course.
