Compiling on Windows Linux Subsystem

Has anyone tried compiling on Windows 10 Linux Subsystem?

I got angband compiled using the Ubuntu installation. I tried x11 and SDL and both resulted in this error:
"./src/angband: Unable to prepare any 'display module'!"

Compiling with the --enable-win fails compilation due to windows.h being absent in the Ubuntu installation paths (I guess).

I'm not sure if it's possible to get one of the graphical frontends working though.

Anyone tried it?

Using XMing, and running export DISPLAY:=0 on the Linux side, I was able to get past the display failure, but stuck now on the font failure.

./src/angband: Couldn't load the requested font. (10x20)

This page explained how to setup the display:

Probably the more sane approach is to crosscompile to windows, though not sure how.

As far as I know no-one's used the Windows Linux Subsystem before to compile Angband. There is already a cross-complation makefile - with CROSS=yes. You need mingw tools though.
