Youre all too obsessed with the "value". The job of the randart generator is to make exciting items to find in the dungeon, and I for my part am happy with its performance.

The randart generator was never updated for multiple pvals, so there are some easy improvements that can be made. There will certainly be some changes for 4.1, but probably fairly cautious.

Honestly, I'd be tempted to try to figure out how to use that weapon anyway. 6d8 + 40 damage and it slays basically everything, plus tons of useful intrinsics -- if you could make that work despite the massive stat penalties, you'd have a pretty awesome character. (EDIT: for example, if you could hit 5 blows/round, this weapon would on average deal 470 damage/round on average against evil enemies, purely on its own before off-weapon damage bonuses are considered). Grond itself is 9d9 but only +25. Plus, Grond aggravates and is therefore completely useless. ;)

bio_hazard February 24, 2016 21:59

This is extremely nitpicky of the smallest details, but something that both aids vision (See Invis) and reduces infravision seems weird.

Yes. Like I said in my op, Id want the crown to fix the stats and a big RoS +20 or so to fix the speed, then it should beat the MoD +2 attacks.

Without the crown, it will be hard; the str/dex loss alone means youre probably not getting anyhere near max blows. The One Ring would help with balancing the stats, but then youre again aggravating ;)

Pete Mack February 26, 2016 20:29

By the prickling in my toes/something wicked this way goes.

l) the Pair of Leather Boots of Hirinden [2,+15] <+10>
Dropped by a Nether wraith at 3600 feet (level 72)
+10 speed.
Provides resistance to lightning.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains wisdom.
Feather Falling. Grants telepathy.

Estie February 26, 2016 22:05

Best boots; way better than the +10speed/+10 other stat type. Do take a look at what they are based on when youre done with that character.

Pete Mack February 26, 2016 22:22

I made a copy of the save file and tried to do a spoiler dump so I could find out. Unfortunately I get:

Yeah, sorry about that - several things involving fake objects are a bit dodgy in current master. As I said elsewhere, there are fixes in the run-based ID branch, which I should be getting out for testing soon.

Fire immunity at level 32!

Code:

Jewel Encrusted Crown of Isildisse [0,+9] <+3>:
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 1600 feet (level 32)
      +3 intelligence.
      +3 dexterity.
      Provides immunity to fire.
      Provides resistance to acid.
      Provides protection from blindness.
      Cannot be harmed by acid.

Thraalbee March 12, 2016 15:23

Best cloak?

On finding a cloak instead of Razorback you might wish you were on standarts. But as randart cloaks go, this one is actually quite nice.

the Elven Cloak 'Arodorost' <+4>
--------------------------------
A mantle made of curious silken material by the Galadrim that wondrously takes
on the hues and shapes of its surroundings.

+4 strength.
+4 wisdom.
+4 constitution.
+4 stealth.
+4 speed.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, frost, chaos.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Slows your metabolism.

When activated, it inscribes a glyph of warding beneath you, which monsters
cannot move onto.
Takes 164 to 240 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 71.1%

Min Level 67, Max Level 127, Generation chance 6, Power 446, 0.4 lbs
Based on Razorback.

Pete Mack March 12, 2016 17:10

You might wish you got Razorback inste, but you wouldn't get it. Because so many of the highest power artifacts are assigned to rare base items, they are by and large far more common when rerolled as random artifacts. In this case, cloaks are vastly more common than higher DSM.

Not so sure about that; tho opposite effect can also happen, for example a high powered artifact getting rolled to a low base item which is unlikely to get created at low depth. I dont know whats rarer on lvl 98, mhdsm or leather armor.

Also, are you sure that it works that way ? If the game created a base item and assigned a chance for arrtifact based on said item, it should be very easy to find bladeturner if it happened to be based on, say, a full plate mail. From my experience, bladeturner is always hard to find, regardless of the base item it gets transformed into.
From very dim memories, a found pdsm in a standart game has about 1/3 chance to be bladeturner. I am fairly sure that finding a full plate mail wont give you bladeturner with that chance, when thats what its based on and there is no other full plate artifact.

Like Estie said, I'm pretty sure the game takes into account the compounded rarity of the artifact -- the rarity of the base item, combined with the rarity of the artifact on top of that. So distributions should roughly match that of the standarts.

PowerWyrm April 7, 2016 16:25

Just found this: the Rapier 'Dinurum' (7d6) (+7,+13) [+9]. Nothing else except the huge dice and small AC boost.

StMicah April 23, 2016 01:28

Ok, so I didn't find this...yet...but was looking at the spoiler file for randarts character (a dundadan priest) I've begun playing after a recent win.

the Ring of Fire 'Ellon' (+10,+16) <+3, +1>
-------------------------------------------
+3 strength.
+3 intelligence.
+3 wisdom.
+3 dexterity.
+3 constitution.
+1 light.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, light, dark.
Cannot be harmed by lightning.
Slows your metabolism. Feather Falling. Prevents paralysis.
Radius 1 light.

Min Level 67, Max Level 127, Generation chance 1, Power 399, 0.2 lbs
Based on Narya.

I wish I had this ring when I played my fists only challenge....but geez what a damage boosting ring.

StMicah May 3, 2016 15:21

Just found this little gem...luckily @ is a Dunadan Priest.

the Mace 'Olion' (2d4) (+10,+12) <+8>
-------------------------------------
+8 wisdom.
+8 speed.
Slays undead (powerfully).
Branded with acid.
Provides resistance to fire, poison gas.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Prevents paralysis.

Min Level 54, Max Level 127, Generation chance 7, Power 343, 12.0 lbs
Based on Balli Stonehand.

PowerWyrm May 24, 2016 12:34

The randart generator must've been trying to make an armor equivalent of the Glaive of Pain. Too bad it used Elvagil to determine the power level. :)

PowerWyrm May 26, 2016 12:39

My spellcaster just got this...

s) the **** Sword 'Mithalir' (3d7) (+11,+11) [+7] <+4, +2>
Dropped by Ar-Pharazn the Golden at 2950 feet (level 59).

+4 intelligence.
+4 constitution.
+2 speed.
Slays giants, animals.
Provides immunity to acid.
Provides resistance to fire, light.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Sustains constitution.
Makes you fall like a feather. Grants the ability to see invisible
things. ******* ** ****-***** *****.
Grants telepathy.

Combat info:
4.0 blows/round.
Average damage/round: 180.8 vs. animals, 231.6 vs. giants, and 129.6 vs.
others.

Guess what type of sword this is (hint: I'm NOT playing V)...

PowerWyrm May 26, 2016 12:51

Interesting ring...

p) the Black Ring of Power of Barech <+3>
Dropped by Ji Indur Dawndeath at 2900 feet (level 58).

+3 wisdom.
Provides immunity to acid, lightning, cold.
Provides resistance to dark.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by lightning.
Slows your metabolism. Aggravates nearby creatures.

AnonymousHero June 23, 2016 18:01

(This is from my branch of ToME 2.x/Theme: )
Code:

The Robe of Rhuenna (+68, +49) [2, +9] (-60%) {cursed}
It decreases hit points 60%.
It sustains your wisdom.
It provides resistance to sound.
It drains experience.
It induces random teleportation.
It aggravates nearby creatures.
It it heavily cursed.

Overall pretty crappy unless I can find something to offset that massive 60% HP penalty, but holy cow: (+68, +49)! I thought I'd seen it all in ToME 2

Estie June 23, 2016 18:13

I have had a character who actually used such a thing; the HP penalty was less though, and the other curse effects were harmless (no aggravation iirc).

Those cursed armours are incredibly rare though (at least in tome2).

Pete Mack June 24, 2016 01:50

Random teleportation would eventually prove fatal, I fear, and losing 60% of HP is pretty brutal, even in ToME.

Nah, you can always wear an anti-teleportation item :). 60%HP of HP isn't actually that bad in Theme since there are rings (amulets?) which provide up to +100%HP (IIRC). So it could be possible to get up to +40%HP eventually. (Of course you're missing out on even more HP, but...)

Pete Mack June 24, 2016 08:35

HP above 1200 has diminishing returns, since that is the max effect of *Healing*. So your point is well taken.

Pete Mack June 24, 2016 21:11

g) the Robe of Gathrinde [2,+18]
Found lying on the floor of a vault at 2250' (level 45)

Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, frost, poison gas,
light, dark, sound, shards, nexus.
Provides protection from fear, blindness.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Slows your metabolism. Prevents paralysis.

That is all but three resists. I already have rNether on a shield. The only downside is very low AC for the armor slot.

Estie June 25, 2016 17:41

Lovely robe and low AC also means little mana loss.

Cold_Heart June 25, 2016 17:52

Isn't mana loss calculated from weight?

Derakon June 25, 2016 20:23

Yes, but robes are lightweight (and low-AC armors in general are lightweight).

Pete Mack June 25, 2016 21:37

Yes. I expect to use it to nearly the end, but trade it in for something heavy vs the bosses. More critically than mana, I never have to worry about being over weight; can carry a huge pile of consumables; it'd be ideal for ironman.

Pete Mack June 25, 2016 21:42

I also found Gloves of Eol, effectively:
the Set of Cestus of Dagorinar (0,+3) [5,+13] <+5>
+5 Strength
+5 Intelligence
+5 Dexterity
Provides resistance to fire, dark.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid or fire.
Prevents paralysis.

Suddenly my rogue can cast Haste Self.

Pete Mack July 7, 2016 06:46

That thing about not fighting with your digger... Currently my two best artifact weapons are:

a) the Shovel of Liondol (3d2) (+15,+15) <+3>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 2700 feet (level 54)

+3 strength.
+3 intelligence.
+3 wisdom.
+3 dexterity.
+3 tunneling.
Slays dragons, animals, evil creatures, undead (powerfully).
Branded with cold.
Provides resistance to lightning, fire, shards, disenchantment.
Prevents paralysis. Grants the ability to see invisible things.
When activated, it creates a lightning ball with damage 64.
Takes 211 to 234 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 94.6%
Combat info:
5.0 blows/round.
Average damage/round: 279.5 vs. creatures not resistant to cold,
279.5 vs. dragons, 255 vs. animals, 255 vs. evil creatures, 328
vs. undead, and 231 vs. others.

u) the Mattock 'Bargor' (1d8) (+12,+22) [+5]
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 2700 feet (level 54)

Slays demons (powerfully), dragons, giants, animals, evil
creatures.
Branded with weak fire.
Provides resistance to acid, frost.
Sustains intelligence.
Speeds regeneration.

Combat info:
5.0 blows/round.
Average damage/round: 284.5 vs. creatures not resistant to fire,
362 vs. demons, 310.5 vs. dragons, 310.5 vs. giants, 284.5 vs.
animals, 284.5 vs. evil creatures, and 258.5 vs. others.

Thraalbee July 17, 2016 11:51

Quite nice version of Bladeturner. The generator gives them the same power which may be reasonable but I'd rather have these +4's than a lot off AC and a few more resists

the White Dragon Scale Mail of Cellaique (-2) [14,+32] <+4>
-----------------------------------------------------------
+4 strength.
+4 wisdom.
+4 dexterity.
+4 constitution.
+4 speed.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, frost, poison gas, light, dark,
sound, shards, nether, chaos, disenchantment.
Provides protection from fear, blindness.
Slows your metabolism. Speeds regeneration.
Radius 4 light.

When activated, it allows you to breathe poison gas for 150 damage.
Takes 155 to 209 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 25.0%

Min Level 100, Max Level 127, Generation chance 1, Power 811, 11.0 lbs
Based on Bladeturner.

Estie July 26, 2016 06:02

g) the Soft Leather Armour of Anelum [8,+28] <+4>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 4850 feet (level 97)

+4 strength.
+4 wisdom.
+4 dexterity.
+4 constitution.
Provides immunity to lightning.
Provides resistance to acid, light, sound.
Provides protection from blindness.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

Not quite Bladeturner, but my paladin loves it. It replaced a green DSM, so I have to equip a shield of preservation for poison resistance, and thankfully my randart weapon has the missing base resists covered.

gglibertine August 2, 2016 11:56

I've got an entire house full of memorable randarts with this round, but it took me a long time to find them! I'm not sure what I'm currently carrying is the best batch of kit, at this point, mostly because it's too confusing to keep track of. I'm especially torn between the Trident of Ernor, which does MASSIVE damage, vs. the Cutlass of Salos, which not only gives me +4 speed but also activates for speed.

Suggestions welcome. I need to clear out my house a bit at this point -- I guess it's time to give up the longbow and arrows given how much success I'm having with the heavy crossbow, and then I need to dump a few artifacts...

The damage is better, by far. Carry the other as a swap if you're low on other sources of haste. 11 base speed is excellent at dl 49

Estie August 2, 2016 14:55

What Pete said; also I would probably use these:

the Necklace 'Elvor' (+4,+7) <+3>
the Iron Crown 'Moril' [0,+19] <+3>
the White Dragon Scale Mail of Raglindeb (-2) [14,+31] <+4>

The necklace, apart from more damage, has +3 light radius; I dont know your playstyle, if you only ever run around in levels lit up by the Arkenstone, that isnt very usefull, but for moving about in the dark without ESP, light radius is great to have.

I prefer the stats of the crown over rblind, and the WDSM has stealth and more constitution, I would want to use it in combination with a resist base shield.

For swap, I wouldnt bother with the sword (mostly because it wont charge up unless wielded), but maybe carry your current armor to have res disenchantment handy when needed.

Pete Mack August 3, 2016 16:25

The light radius is a lie. For non-lights, radius is actually 1 whatever is displayed

Estie August 3, 2016 18:07

I wasnt aware of that - still, it should be useful ?

assuming 3 from Arkenstone, and the max of 5 ( its absolute cap iirc), it would increase it to 4 ? Or, 4 -> if it adds up with other light items like the night&day crown ?

Or doesnt it add at all ?

If true, and I have to assume so, then that's a pretty serious bug and should be fixed.

kandrc August 9, 2016 15:06

How about this beast:

Code:

l) the Pair of Steel Shod Boots of Thithil [7,+8] <+4>
Dropped by Lokkak, the Ogre Chieftain at 1500 feet (level 30)

    +4 speed.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

kandrc August 9, 2016 15:24

Seems I posted just a few minutes too soon. Here's my endgame weapon:

Code:

u) the Morning Star of Hebor (2d6) (+9,+14)
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 1550 feet (level 31)

Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

    Combat info:
    1.1 blows/round.
With +9 STR and +0 DEX you would get 1.3 blows
With +0 STR and +2 DEX you would get 1.3 blows
    Average damage/round: 11.5.

Estie August 9, 2016 17:26

You can enchant it to +15.

Pete Mack August 9, 2016 19:13

@kandrc--
The mace is junk. But the boots are pretty good for dl30, much better than whatever weak artifact they are based on.

I don't disagree. But they are both amusing and memorable.

Karma punished me for laughing at my artifacts, so I'm able to say that the boots are based on Thingol. And the morning star, based on Holcolleth, is much worse than the weak artifact it's based on.

Thraalbee August 13, 2016 22:35

Deathwreaker replacement

My ironman paladin happily found this beaute! Lovely and then some.
Note that the damage per round only includes a measly +2 from equipment.

a) the Morning Star of Thlagoth (6d6) (+6,+28) [+18] <+2> {A:Banishment}
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 4450 feet (level 89)

+2 wisdom.
+2 dexterity.
+2 constitution.
Slays giants, trolls, undead, evil creatures, dragons
(powerfully), demons (powerfully), orcs, animals.
Branded with weak fire.
Provides resistance to fire, poison gas, dark.
Provides protection from fear, blindness.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Feather Falling. Grants the ability to see invisible things.
Radius 2 light.

When activated, it removes all non-unique monsters represented by
a chosen symbol from the level, dealing you damage in the process.
Takes 639 to 936 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 78.5%

Combat info:
5.0 blows/round.
Average damage/round: 499.5 vs. creatures not resistant to fire,
616 vs. giants, 616 vs. trolls, 616 vs. undead, 499.5 vs. evil
creatures, 849 vs. dragons, 849 vs. demons, 616 vs. orcs, 499.5

Only a paltry 499.5 versus animals? Garbage. Personally, I don't consider anything endgame quality if it doesn't do at least 500 against animals.

StMicah August 18, 2016 18:56

I wonder whether @ gets any bonus to 3-pointers with this bow:

the Long Bow 'Lebron' (x6) (+14,+20) <+3>
-----------------------------------------
+3 dexterity.
+3 shooting power.
Provides resistance to acid, nexus.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

If it's anything like my ethereal slippers of "Jordan," I'm sure to be disappointed by the supposed stat boost...

Dropped by Ufthak of Cirith Ungol at 1200 feet (level 24)

Cursed.
Cannot be harmed by acid

No wonder he was so keen on upgrading to Frodo's mithril chain mail.

This is a pretty good find for 900' though

Code:

a) the Spear of Nataur (2d6) (+13,+33) <+2, +1>

Oh my god!
Is it heavy? Or can you get full blows with it?

Pete Mack September 25, 2016 23:55

It's a rapier, so sure I get max blows. I am now getting 665/turn vs. Evil, fully buffed (7 blows/turn for a Rogue.)
Edit: Killed Cantoras and Vecna, each in standup fights with no healing. Only ever did that with Deathwreaker and MoD +2 attacks before. Certainly not with a randart.

Pete Mack September 26, 2016 17:40

So that was an easy fight. For all the huge stack of *Healing* and Mass Banishment, I used only 1 one of the former (replaced during th fight), and 2 of the latter, along with 6 !Heal and 11 CCW

Don't randarts simetimes 'compensate' by making absurdly heavy versions of light weapons? Or did I imagine that...?

Estie October 1, 2016 11:15

Randarts can get heavier than the normal base item, but you can always get max blows regardless (unless you are a warrior). It might take a bit more str/dex.

a) the Lochaber Axe 'Cualim' (11d8) (+6,+11) <+4>

Slays giants, undead (powerfully), demons.
Branded with fire.
Provides resistance to acid.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Sustains your life force.

When activated, it attempts to magically enhance a weapon both
to-hit and to-dam. Also gives a chance to break a curse.
Takes 576 to 844 turns to recharge at your current speed.

Shoes galore

My ironman mage found all of these, all nice in their way for a mage.
Code:

w) the Pair of Ethereal Slippers of Gondossa [0,+20] <+4, +1>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 4150 feet (level 83)

When activated, it creates a fire ball with damage 144.
Takes 342 to 418 turns to recharge at your current speed.

    Feather Falling.

When activated, it attempts to remove a curse from an item.
Takes 247 to 273 turns to recharge at your current speed.

v) the Pair of Mithril Shod Boots of Elwen [8,+15] {COLD}

    Provides immunity to frost.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.

It's not just the INT, it's pConf/pBlind, FA, and sustINT. I mean, I'd also take the CON/Speed boots, but you have to admit the first pair is a really nice and interesting set of footgear.

Why is it junk? You can use it as a swap for cold monsters to protect your potions, and leave it off the rest of the time.

Pete Mack December 6, 2016 23:12

Swaps in ironman are very expensive. Tele other as a mage is dirt cheap.

Yeah, that's very nice. But stacking up two god stats on the other side makes it a pretty decided choice.

The slippers would be nice in the standard artifact set Not too overpowered and no clear copy

Pete Mack December 7, 2016 16:23

Those slippers are pretty powerful, just a bad impedance match with the usual need for speed in the boots slot.

If you make an html screenshot or a character dump you can copy-paste from that. Not sure if there's a simpler way.

An ber cloak from the recent vanilla nightlies game (didn't find it though):
Code:

the Elven Cloak of Cirie (+9,+7) [6,+50] <+6, +7, +4, +2, +1>
-------------------------------------------------------------
A mantle made of curious silken material by the Galadrim that wondrously takes

Aggravates creatures nearby.
Radius 1 light.

Estie December 20, 2016 16:20

It is very rare that Bladeturner turns (npi) into something other than a melee weapon or armour. When it does though, it always seems to pick up aggravation. It looks like aggravation is somehow required to make it pass some check.

At first I thought that maybe aggravation reduces the power value, but the values of aggravating BTs dont seem consistently lower. Maybe its just a bug ? If anyone code-wise has a clue or idea of what is going on, Id be very interested.

Just bad luck. Chance of getting aggravation is fixed and simply depends on the number of aggro artifacts vs the number of total artifacts. An artifact gets aggro if it's base power is high enough (300 -- BT has 775) and passes a check of %chance= 100 * number of aggro artifacts / number of total artifacts for its type (weapon or not).

Ah, thanks. So I havee seen a nonexistant pattern in too small a sample.

Azuria December 27, 2016 03:53

Tried using this in Radh's first bout against Sauron, and got teleported off the level when he was at 50%. Came back later with Trickery for the ResNexus. It's memorable because it provides an off weapon brand but still manages to not be helpful in the kit.

the Jewel of Romelen <+1>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 4900 feet (level 98)

+1 light.
It brands your melee attacks with acid.
Provides resistance to acid.
Radius 1 light.

Estie December 27, 2016 04:37

Its rare that an off weapon brand is useful. The majority are not very helpful (slay animal or poison brand), or already coverd by the same brand present on the weapon, or simply worse than standard options for the slot, like your case.

Are you kidding? Glaive of Pain + Ring of Acid was a very standard combination back in the days when elemental rings gave elemental brands in melee. Those 9d6 damage dice get an impressive boost, making the brand an effective Ring of Damage (+62) on average. ...in retrospect, that makes it pretty obvious why off-weapon brands got made vastly more rare. :)

Of course, the Glaive of Pain isn't available in a randarts game, but even a puny 2d5 Longsword gets an extra 12 damage/blow on average, which is quite respectable from the amulet slot.

Acid brand is also pretty reliable; there's many dangerous enemies that aren't resistant to acid. Sauron is of course the most notable of these. I mean, yes, many brands are not as helpful. The only really useful ones in the endgame are acid, evil, undead, demon, and maybe dragon -- which leaves poison, frost, fire, electricity, animal, orc, troll, giant...what am I forgetting? Anyway, there's plenty of non-useful brands. But that doesn't mean that all off-weapon brands are useless.

No, not all off weapon brands are always useless. But why do you state that in such a way as to make it look like it contradicts my post ?
All I am saying is that I often find off-weapon brands in my randart games, but that I rarely end up using them because most of the time, other items are better in that slot. Rare != never.

PowerWyrm February 22, 2017 10:55

Today I have found the Robe of Helen. No wonder why she goes outside so lightly clothed: it gives her immunity to cold! ;)

Grotug February 22, 2017 13:23

The levels beyond 100 were quite interesting. One I started in a very large lava cavern filled with dozens of greater demons. Later I found the Arkenstone of Gatang (+8, +7) which provides immunity to cold and rPoison. Between this, and the Cloak of Tiriand I found (+4, +7) my Long Sword 'Naenya' of extra attacks <+2> (+12, +21) (4d5) I'm doing 900 to not rPois, almost 800 to others, 1200+ to Undead and that's before I self haste and put on a RoD.

Not bad for the first randart my warrior found this game:

Code:

a) the Main Gauche of Earada (1d5) (+18,+15)
Dropped by a young black dragon at 1550 feet (level 31)

Slays undead (powerfully), demons (powerfully), giants, animals.
    Branded with fire.
    Provides protection from blindness.
    Cannot be harmed by acid.
    Grants telepathy.

When activated, it grants temporary resistance to poison for
    1d10+10 turns.
Takes 33 to 36 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 94.2%

Estie March 8, 2017 02:00

Holy thats nice. But mark my words, you are going to despise it ere the helm of telepathy is found.

Antoine March 9, 2017 00:06

That thing of Grotug's is quite strong

A.

Sky March 9, 2017 00:33

well, i found a mace of distruption (12d8), +1 str, NO slays or brands.
and then i found a cloak of acid brand. 1100 dmg x round.

it's funny to note that if you have an off-weapon brand, and you wield a weapon with "weak" brand, you will get a text saying "xx damage vs acid, xx damage vs acid", with two different values.

I know. That's what makes it funny.

Current game picked up this one

Whip of Anauglos (2d3) (+5, +28) <+1>

+1 strength
+1 attack speed
Slays undead, orcs.
Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid or fire.

Not particularly amazing unless you consider I picked it up on the dungeon floor at DL4. Doing 160 dpt is a little op at that level.

Just cleared a minor demon pit to claim this stunning prize:

Code:

p) the Phial 'Sirie' (-5,+2) <-3> {cursed}
Found lying on the floor in a pit at 850 feet (level 17)

It makes your skin harder to damage, but conduct electricity.
It paralyses you every now and then.
It occasionally makes a loud noise.
    -3 light.
    Cannot be harmed by fire.
    Sustains constitution.
    Aggravates creatures nearby.
    Radius -3 light.

When activated, it lights up the surrounding area, hurting
    light-sensitive creatures.
Takes 20 to 38 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 91.9%

Hey, +2 damage! That's pretty good on a light source!

PowerWyrm March 30, 2017 12:05

The -3 light is clearly a bug no?
