After one very close call, I *only* fight summoners in ASCs or otherwise constrained locations. Fundin summoned multiple summoners, and I barely made it out. Without phase, this is way too dangerous.

You can't phase. But you can still TO. It mostly means less softening up monsters with archery before going to melee. Since that post, I finally found gloves with FA, so I could swap in a CON ring...

A perilous find: Cursed boots of Elvenkind!

Have a promising game going, V4.2 HE warriors, played entirely in portrait mode on my smallish android phone. It isn't easy. LOS monsters are a regular occurrence, and the monster list overlay is...

What he said. Look for a nice, harmless Forest Wight (or similar.) Let it bash you down a level, then restore life. For STR and CON only, there are also sips of miruvor and *extremely* rare Entish...

The poll--which I hadn't actually looked at til now, since "I never answer polls"--is entirely a successful troll.

Star has a good activation. Phial recharge time is too short once you get a little speed, and in any case most spellcasters don't need it at all. In contrast, rods of mapping are a pretty late find.

Sky--
Do try 4.2
I hated it at first, but the 4.2 Mage is interesting, and the Blackguard is *really* different, now that some annoying bugs are gone. I am not sold on 4.2 ranger, to be fair.

Under what circumstances does angband.live force a save? Failing on a core dump or--worse--on an abort is not a good time to force a save, except perhaps if you keep the previous save as a recovery...

In V they did 3d4 damage, then in the "ridiculously easy era" they did 3d4 damage with fire brand, comparable to a (+0,+5) longbow. Then it went to 1d4 with fire brand. Now it is back to 3d4, no...

That is way too good, unless you are considering a rare restricted ego item (no elven or fur dwarven cloaks) or an artifact.

Annoyances in Paladin spells.
1. Heal 2000 is a waste. If you need more than 500HP (at 5he absolute outside) healed, you can't risk 5% fail. And 50MP is insanely expensive.
