One way to do skills -- I'd rather call them specialties since Angband already has skills -- in Angband would be this. This is just brainstorming.

- They would be similar to Oangband specialties....

I would love a skill system where the skill tree...

I would love a skill system where the skill tree was procedurally generated in each game. There could be hundreds of skills in the game, but only 15 or so would be available to the player to choose...

You can call the Sangband system "elegant". It really is a masterwork. But it is elegant in an extremely baroque way that reminds me of RPG...

Angband already has a perfectly good system for making characters distinguished: stats, skills, races, and classes! Except that it doesn't...

It may be that these ideas aren't quite ready for Vanilla or even v4 yet. I think we should introduce v5! All the ideas in this thread and lots more could go right in, and be playtested properly.

So crafting a sword would require dropping two rings and five edged weapons in this pattern. (But what's 0?).

Please don't add new junk items...

I'd much prefer crafting that uses the existing items as components. That way crafting would actually reduce the number of junk items.
