I've wanted something like this, but thought better of it ;-) What I did come around to is that I'd like to have something to complete. Vaults, and pits fill this want well, but I want more :-)

Yes, that is what people refer to when talking about grinding. But to make it clear I'll expand on it a bit:

Grinding: To repeatedly kill monsters that pose no to low risk, in order to gain a...

I suggest you don't change the mimics based on there now being a mimic pit. I feel it's more important that the mimics are as good as possible (i.e interesting), than making the pit work. If you want...

The point in starting this thread was not really that I am going to redesign combat. I'm perfectly happy to help with it, but I rather see it as a group effort ;-) I am also aware of there being...

Combat redesign - taking a step back

Combat redesign is overdue. I'd like to get some significant changes done in time for 3.4. Since combat changes need much discussion, and much play-testing, we need to start with it now. There are...

I agree.

I agree, and I've always felt that the wimpy low level monsters should have a hard time surviving deeper in the dungeon, but if they have a strong leader with them it would make more...

Well I did not say we should stay at it forever, just to use the stuff that has already been commited. Just so you know, I don't feel strongly either way, just felt that the issue had to be heard :-)

But the rest of the world, i.e. those not hanging around here at the forum will forever have a slightly inferior version of 3.3. For that matter we will also forever have a slightly inferior version...

I feel that Angels are way more missplaced than Ainur in any case. Ainur are at least in the same mythology.

If that is the case, then I'd prefer to have the whole lot in the pipe line added (except stealth). All of those are tweaks to the current game, not changes planned for 3.4.

Would be nice, but I think I'd like the combat system to be reworked first. Basically all classes except mages and priest have ridiculously high to-hit... Oh, well guess it's not such a problem after...

Of course we need more deep monsters! It's been on my todo list for a while now :-) I've only been thinking in terms of the current races though... New ones would be good... Hmm, about freeing...

I can only think of one issue that comes close: delayed level feelings. Maybe not showstopper quality, but also very easy to test. And possibly squelching bad as default... Also easy to change...

Final RC?

According to the initial plan 3.3 is due out in a week. I thought that would mean some last ditch efforts this weekend. So, Magnate, still on your well deserved vacation? Or did the dev team decide...
