I had the problem in both iTerm 2 as well as gnome-terminal. But I think maybe in both cases I was inside of a screen session.

I've installed angband on a shared Linux system as a fun diversion for the local users. But everyone only sees their own hall of fame! Is there anyway to symlink a file in the filesystem...

Looks like it works, I've got the game running in curses mode!

Just FYI the way to "not have X11 support" was to simply not have X11 installed on my machine.

That was actually quite easy!
