As I recall, Oangband also uses the dice as the basis for all damage, so going to 1d5 is about a 20% damage boost compared to 1d4 assuming enchantment level is held constant. But yeah, making their...

I had a suggestion ages ago for a "vent" monster, which would be an immobile monster that periodically breathed a weak exotic element. So there'd be, like, chaos vents, nexus vents, nether vents,...

To be clear, I wasn't trying to make a value judgement, just making a guess at how the game would play as a warrior with 1 blow/round pre-stat-gain.

As a kid playing 2.4 frog-knows, I had a...

So, you made it so that everyone gets ~1 blow/round in the early game? Is that the gist of it?

That could get painful in the 500-1500' range for melee-oriented characters...

Neat! I don't know what the order of entries in lore.txt is, but I went ahead and generated a top-10 for each entry.

It only guarantees it if you see these items in the store in the relatively narrow band where you can't afford them but can afford the layaway fees. You're still dependent on the store to actually...

ToME 2 is the last Angband-like ToME. This is the thread for the most recent release of that line.

ToME 1 was called PernAngband and got hit by a C&D from Anne McCaffrey's lawyers, so 2 stripped...

To be clear, I don't object to a layaway option, and I don't in the slightest think less of you for having proposed it! I just don't think I'd use it myself, and I've a feeling the people currently...

Heh, well, fair enough. I'll freely admit to not having done a broad survey on this topic. :)

I have never seen a game where a shield was worth more than increasing your damage output by 50% or more. Plenty have tried, none have succeeded.

I've always found dual-wielding to be pretty silly, so personally I would prefer some other means of differentiation. Plus, the game gets awfully easy once you're dealing more than a certain...
