Aggravate wakes up all monsters in a 200' radius, not just in LOS. Shriek is even worse: it's a 400' radius, and LOS monsters are basted as well.
Edit: fixed radii

Taratol also has electricity immunity, which can be very valuable as a swap. Pazuzu in particular becomes a trivial target. But also blue dragon pits are easy, with no risk to wands or rods.

Yeah, I was wondering why you didn't use ?PD before. (Or use the spell, assuming you have the fail rate down.) Alternatively, use teleport. Bolg doesn't have a good enough drop to be worth using all...

That is seriously unbalanced, unless you are recreating autoscum, where the level feeling is a combination of monster and object importance. Even then, it was unbalanced, but not as badly.

Rod of light hits multiple targets and has a very short recharge time. With a few of them, that time goes down to a couple turns.

Rod of light is helpful for a rogue when facing trolls later on. You won't be quite strong enough without it, but hack and back down hallways with a line of them will weaken them enough you can kill...

Does it work fully in portrait mode? And can it change font size in landscape? The main problem with the game is that in each mode it is wasting screen space. In one, because a third of the screen is...

Gwarl--
It was the damage that was a problem. Only 4 blows, and no slays, just a single brand. And base damage scaled for attacking the player, not attacking monsters with thousands of HP.

The other way holds too: get rid of too many weak ego types at some depth, and essentially every object becomes top notch. (Notably, big three weapons. Also: crowns.)

@Khadzul
More specifically, it makes the good DSM more rare. This is it's main role. It also weighs a little less.

@Fizzix-- that'd work fine. It's softer near 0 than pure 1/x behavior, but asymptotically the same. That makes sense- the difference between 1 and 10 levels OOD really doesn't matter, so they should...

@Derakon--
Surely we have a sufficiently accurate power model to distinguish Dwarven Green DSM, say, from Caspannion? I used the former in the endgame twice in 3.4. Never, in 3.5 and later.

Be careful when you squash out of depth objects. The suggestion of an exponential tail is *much* too strict. 1/x (logarithmic) tail is what you want--basically 50 and 100 levels OOD should be roughly...

Wobbly--yes. I played dragon way back when in Posband a few times. Most of the species were just awful: terrible damage, and painfully limited use of "branded" attacks; I was unable to win. The big...
