I think this is over-complicated. If the user has assigned a different key to an item for a particular command, the item that has been overriden should just be assigned another key that isn't in use...

I can confirm that it is a fun visual effect, though I have no comment on its balance.

Run `angband -h` and it will give you some info. Using `angband -l` should list your savefiles and `angband -u<name>` lets you choose which savefile to use. It's a bit clunky but it's there.
