Huh, Well, I eventually decided to go back and see how long I could last just hitting yes every time it prompted me, was actually rather an amusing game and I made it surprisingly far, enough to convince me to take a deep breath and try again, but I will definitely give that a try next time I find one. I've encountered cursed teleporter items in several variants before but not one like that.
