You can only remove cursed items as a Berserker, Beorning (bear-form only) or Mummy. (Taking off cursed items as a Mummy does not uncurse them, since mummies tend to want as many curses as possible.) Permanently cursed items cannot be removed this way.
Werewolves have to uncurse items before taking them off.
