Competition 114
Competition 114 is now available from the competition page; it is a NPPComp114 Hobbit Druid. Yes, that's right - Jeff has created a special version of NPP just for this competition. The winner is the one who kills most monster races, with turns as the tiebreaker.
Note that comp 113 has a day to run.

For what it's worth, the savefile is included with NPPcomp114 (for Win). No need to download it seperately. Nice (unless you're using OS X).

There are 675 monster races in NPP, counting uniques, and not counting player ghosts, which are turned off. All races have been probed a half dozen times, so you should have a good idea what you are up against.
When you do a character dump, the first two lines will tell you how many races you have killed, and how many you have left to kill. Under the knowledge section ('~'), you can look at the monster kill count section. All monster races are shown, sorted by kill count, so as you progress through the comp you will be able to see which ones you have left. The monster section of the knowledge screen will also have this information. Remember some creatures have two identical entries (ex: novice priests), one for a single creature and one for them to appear as a group. The game counts each as a separate monster race. Good luck!

My game hung at the 10000 gameturn count. I can't think of anything else that might be causing it. Any move will be your last. Savefile attached.

First, my apologies. Second, thank you both for noticing it happened at 10000 game turns. That lead me to check out store maintenance first, and the problem was easily found.
I replaced windows binary and source code, so teh links now take you to the corrected source. (just remember to preserve your savefile when you download!) If you re-download the windows binary, you only need to replace the nppangband executable. If you have downloaded the source, you only need to replace store.c (specifically just replace the store_item_increase function inside store.c. The details of the bugfix is here: https://github.com/nppangband/NPPAng...2f7d25d9bb2366

FYI, the OS X build does not appear to contain the save file. This is trivial, of course

The OS X build - just downloaded a few sec ago - still crashes at game turn 10000. Which was the point I had reached just before noticing this thread!
[A quick perusal doesn't reveal a store.c file, but that may likely be my incompetence rather than an actual absence?] |

And no, the savefile won't be there for OSX - it's stored in Library/Preferences/NPPComp114/save, which is not part of the disk image.
