Possibly inane suggestion
I just started using ToME2's Automizer for the first time ever.
I think this might be the one feature of T2 that should be ported to Vanilla. Yes, I know, XML and all. But it is *powerful*, far more so than V's auto-squelch system, and not a whole lot harder to use. And it would be even more powerful when combined with V's ID by use. It could really help take the tedium out of e.g. sorting through the loot from a Troll pit. What say you all?

Short answer: no. Long answer: noooooooo.
The UI is terrible. If you want a good squelch system, loot NPP's instead. You can squelch by individual item type (squelch only whips), by ego type (squelch all whips of Slay Orc), and the larger categories (squelch all hafted Slay Orc weapons, squelch all Slay Orc weapons period). Of course v4 will need its own squelch system because affixes don't really fit into the existing concepts very well. |

v4 already does. It's currently accessible via the knowledge menu, but the infrastructure is already there for squelching affixes and themes, either completely or on a per-tval basis. All that's needed is a nicer interrogative UI for it at the 'k' prompt. I guess we could go all the way to squelch-by-sval eventually, because there are many scenarios where you want to squelch a certain type of dagger but not the same type of zweihander. In fact, with v4's new combat depending so much more on dice, we should actually move to squelch-by-dice thresholds, and squelch-by-preference (i.e. squelch all weapons with finesse < 0.5, etc.).
