There are different angles but you can't, AFAIK, distinguish between 'horizontal spell travelling east' and 'horizontal spell travelling west'; the tiles are mapped to match the ASCII symbols using four symbols for eight directions, like this:

Horribly nitpicky, but a statue that involved a bow would probably omit the bowstring.
