All academic until next game now anwway, just got killed by a darkness breath from Ungoliant.
She hit me with one which took me all the way down to 16 HP.

Did the right thing and stopped - looked through my inventory - what do I need to keep me alive NOW? I'm blind so can't cast or read - rods had failure rates so I quaffed ?healing. Instantly she fired another and I'm dead. Fek.

Suppose I should have quaffed my ?*healing*
But I was saving them - oh wait.

But I was saving them - oh wait.
Unless and until you have both rBlind and rConfusion, you should be carrying a Staff of Teleportation, though even that can get you killed. http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=18231

In the situation you were in, blind and negligible hps facing a formidable foe, bailing out is the only decent choice.

Yeah I never did, in that game get a reliable pBlind or pConf.

Mother nature roguelike always seeks out the weakness in @.

A good call on the staff of teleportation. I kind of got used to just zap curing rod and mana b - teleport.

If there are two PVAL:s with same value it shows only once. +4 power or shots is impossible, so +2 would have to be for both of those.

Swaps. I use them a lot, later in game helmets of serenity and helmets of night and day if my main source for ESP is headgear.

I think you misunderstood me, or I miscommunicated, or both. +2 might and shots would be a x4 power sling with 2 extra shots (the dex number happened to be +4, but that's not what I was referring to).

Misunderstood. I thought you meant sling power.

Buckland slings can have both +2 to shots and might making them three shot x4 slings. It is rarer now that those two are separated values so there are more combos to get. When they got introduced it was nearly guaranteed that you found one with +2 to shots and might and with insane to_dam they had made them way too powerful weapons. I protested a lot about them.

IMO they are still a bit too powerful.
