3.5 Thoughts

I really like the changes in 3.5, though most of my experience is with 3.1.2 or some such, so I don't know how much changes in 3.3/3.4

-The title screen is cleaner and cooler-looking.
-I really like no-selling.
-Character screen is much improved.
-Showing damage dealt is also good. It would be cool if the damage dealt by monsters was also shown.

For the forced descent option, what if the upstairs returns you to town (a la Halls of Mist) like word of recall? You would then completely remove the need for recall and it would be a convenience/luxury, rather than a necessity.

Or at least give a better message than "Nothing happens!". Maybe turn all upstairs into downstairs?

My current run has given me ~4 potions of augmentation before I was maxxed out. This is so much better than earlier versions when they were useless once I'd found my first one.

Augmentation works like Vigor after you have all your stats maxed, so not completely useless. I used them many times for that purpose in order to save those mushrooms for endgame.

Clever! I like that Angband's systems are complex and internally consistent enough to provide opportunities to think like that.

I'm not one to turn people away from Angband, but you might also find Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (Nethack derivative) interesting if you like extreme item interaction. (I don't personally care for Nethack or its variants, but I thought I'd mention it anyway )

Calling DCSS a Nethack derivative is pretty far-fetched (even if it was true at some point in the past, they play completely differently and have different philosophies in their modern incarnations)
