A quick question on Armour Class

I'm just about to choose a final set of gear for the last few uniques and the Big M himself (I might keep some aggravating stuff for the final fight). It seems like out of all that kit I can have two of the following, but no more:
Full resistances inc pStun
Massive AC
Good Speed
Better Damage
Ultimate stealth.

The AC sacrifice seems to be an obvious way to go. But can anyone tell me how much more damage I will take with a Shielded AC of 240 compared to 300?

Speed you have to have. Stealth is irrelevant for last fight. Resistances are almost irrelevant for last fight, but nice to have, especially immunities in case of elemental dragon summons. Against M itself they have no meaning. AC is good to have but not priority. Damage is must. Sustains would be good to have.

Since you mention AC, I assume you're planning to melee Morgoth. For that, you'll want:

* Sustained STR/DEX/CON
* At least +30 speed when hasted
* FA/SI/ESP
* As much melee damage output as you can possibly get

Morgoth himself doesn't use any elemental attacks besides Nether Storm, which resistance doesn't help much against. So resistances are purely for dealing with his summons -- and there are other ways to deal with unpleasant summons for the final fight, namely Teleport Other and Destruction (and Mass Genocide if they aren't unique). You'll still want your basic resists covered, but everything else falls strictly into the "nice to have" bucket.

I don't have a feel for how much of a difference 60 points makes in your odds of being hit, but it won't make any difference in how much damage Morgoth's blows make when they do land. All of his attacks bypass armor damage reduction.

I should clarify, I've got another 15 levels to go yet, and I want to knock off the last 10 uniques aswell (some of which will probably be of the Mughash calibre!). So it's not yet a pure Morgoth build I'm after. That cloak in my house and one of the two weapons will come out for the aggravate build.

Leave those weaklings alive. Especially if they have escorts. When M summons uniques they appear in place with "oh, sh*t" expression in their faces. It also blocks more dangerous enemies from being summoned.

Fights go then like this: M hits you with earthquake, Wolf humps your leg, Grip nibbles your toes, Draebor moons you -more-

You need more CON to get more hit points. It's more important than speed, AC, stealth, damage or anything else. With 657 HPs one mana storm + other monster attack and you will see a tombstone.

This solves that problem nicely:

+8 speed.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.


He can have +20+ speed without using any RoS at all.

He even has this:
n) the Metal Scale Mail of Gluil (-2) [38,+7] <+4>
Dropped by Kavlax the Many-Headed at 3000 feet (level 60).

+4 constitution, stealth.
Provides resistance to acid, cold, poison, light, dark, nether.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.


Elfstone + this is +7 CON (more). Boots + gauntlets is +17 speed. Add RoS and you have more than enough speed and you have still not used one ring slot. Can use it with anything.

Crazy items.

I would be searching for slay evil/HA/extra blows big three for final fight. He lacks really good melee-weapon.

Yeah, in the end I sacrificed a ring of speed for a ring of CON+5, which also gives me my last sustain. My speed is also OKish now that I've found a hat with +11 SPD. So we're good to go!
