Macro idea for newbies

In light of another poster's comment on macros: it would be nice to have a simple way of binding an action to a function key (F1-F12). Maybe via menu, and limited to one of a set of simple single-turn actions? Like

Press a function key ->
Get a message that function keys are not bound yet, would you like to bind them ->
Select a function key ->
Select whether to cast a spell, fire a missile, or use an item ->
Select from a list of (all) spellbooks or (available) ammo/items ->
Angband automatically creates the macro and inscribes the items

Hotkeys! (made easy)

1. Take an action.
2. Press an unused hotkey (F1-F12). This binds last the action taken (like the n key) to the hotkey.
*. Press Shift+hotkey to clear a hotkey and ready it for reassignment.
#. I'm sure Nick is all over this.

Is that the new way of saying "FAAngband already has this"?

This would be most excellent! sometimes I am just too lazy to make a keymap/macro for some actions

Also, maybe, a function would be created so we could also easily inscribe an item with a pop up menu. (and choose from one list the possible options for that item) that would be a great addition and a big improvement to the gameplay for newcomers. (and me the lazy guy who also can't be bothered to inscribe rods and wands and stuff like that.)

That would be a great way of improving quality of life in the game!
