It Lurks Below
I watched a video about how Diablo became a live action game from originally being designed to be a turn based game. The guy who came up with Diablo was heavily influenced by Angband, so I thought I'd look up a more recent title he made:

Ah that's right, I remember looking at a few of his developer videos (I think that's what they were? man my memory is shot) on it some years back. Haven't played it. I think I "met" him briefly when the Diablo team visited Monolith Productions back in the olden days. Hm I guess they were probably there thinking about licensing the Lithtech engine, I don't remember though.

I played Diablo 3 on my console and I can't even imagine how it could be a turn-based game. It's weird and unusual, but who knows.

I watched an interview a while back with David Brevik (the lead developer of Diablo 1 and 2), and he said that in the early builds of the original Diablo it technically was still turn based, but he just whittled the time down in between turns until it was 0 so everything would effectively happen in real time.

I have had It Lurks Below in my Steam library for a while now but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. David has said that co-op mode will be coming very soon so I might just wait until that's a thing and then find a friend to play it with.
