Well you are one of the best Sil players so totally makes sense. If you are in a comp I know I'm not going to do that well : ( I think you won that NPP comp that started with a hobbit rogue with The One Ring.

And you are damn good too. Even without math skills. But I think we have totally different playing styles in any variant. BUT they both work so it doesn't matter in the end.

I'm 32.

Frog Knows was the first version I played; I would have been about...13?

I also played the SSI Goldbox series back in the day - awesome too.

Umm yeah. 25, and started playing Angband on classic MacOS when I was 12 or so. It's probably one of the things responsible for my career path (wanted to go into physics, wound up shepherding Linux servers).

And I don't have any degrees. College and me did not get along.

Not me; that was ewan. I haven't branched out into the variants hardly at all; only ever seriously played Vanilla and Sil (and Moria, but that was years ago). I generally play too slow to win the comp's I enter. I only come out on top when all the people who play faster than me manage to die.

I'm 44, and I'm a human calculator. I can't do serious maths though.

Really? What's your hobby, mine is calculating squares of double-digit numbers in my head while commuting. Numbers around 7 are painful, you need to really concentrate on calc to get that right. Makes commuting over in no time flat.

My hobby is handing retailers the exact notes+change for my purchases before they've finished scanning them. The younger they are, the more wide-eyed they get.
