I'm not interested in competing, so getting any rank doesn't attract me. I also don't pay attention to my turncounts (I have no idea how many turns my current char has used), so that's probably quite high right now. (I have ID rod and need to wait for it to recharge way more than I would like to).

Good! The ranking feature of the ladder is widely ignored anyway, thats not its purpose.
What happened to poor Sting ? +1 str dex con only ? I was aware that "we can have different pvals now!!!" has been used as incentive to shave off everywhere, but Sting. +1....thats so cheap. Just....no.

Sting has gained +3 speed. It's still quite good weapon.

We need mathom house. It hurts me to throw phial away to make space in my home, but I just had to do that. Two minor vaults that had excellent treasures which I just might use later.

Just to inform that I got my billionth winner. Hobbit warrior this time. Look for Wanderer II in angband ladder.

Started a new, odd combo: Dwarf mage.

My dad, is, or was, an auto mechanic. Retired from that, still alive, aged 73 now. But for a while, in the late 70's/early 80's he was a NCR programmer. And at about that time, mom decided to go to school. She was encouraged into computers, so we got a TI when I was about 8 in 1983. Soon after, dad brought home a floppy with Hack on it. History ever since.

Sad I lost it, but back in 1992 I wrote a dungeon crawl for my measly 2048 byte TI-81 graphing calculator to tide me over, before the internet re-introduced me to all the rogue-like variants in my college years. Yes, math and chemical engineering for me.

39 now, played most of the others, Angband and variants my favorites by far.

31 here, been playing as long as memory serves me.

I think Angband's general appeal to the older crowd is that its kind of ugly, but the gameplay is great. It can be hard to get the younger crowd into a game that isnt action packed and full of pretty graphics anymore.

Luckily for us, those that get into it, tend to stay into it. This is basically a 30 year old game (Maybe thats why there are so many 30s) with a healthy userbase and active development, not too many of those around anymore.
