Six years now, always Z. Never won, but I've come close. I think my current Mage has a chance as well, level 50, max stats and +12 natural speed atm. Need those rare spell books, more speed, a couple of res's and I'll give it another shot. Will keep ya posted!

I started playing Umoria as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s (i used to play it on my dad's allegedly portable computer, the ones that looked like giant cinder blocks, with the monochrome screen)...I didnt play it all that seriously for a long time. Then when I did it probably took three years to find and kill the Balrog....and my character that did it spent a LOT of time fleeing the almighty Balrog until he was ready to fight him.
Ive only picked up Angband in the last 6 months or so, and havent gotten all that deep....clvl 35 or so...I havent been playing it seriously since i got my new computer either. I find playing it old school because I now have vista is annoying. |

I've played off and on for 7 years. I've had two computers crash during that time and each time I couldn't make a copy of my hard drive
![]() I haven't won a game yet but I think I've got a character that can do it now. I've installed a back up drive, so even a dead pc shouldn't stop me!

Years and years and years ... starting with Moria on the Amiga back in the 80s.
I managed only twice to win the game, last autumn and this spring. |

erm, I picked up Moria in 1991. I played Frog-Knows when it was the new version. And I've never won.

Well, I've been working in one since my youngest was born... as long as you get to go home every day, they're a laugh a minute!

Even though it is really easy to roll up a new @, it is amazing how much difference it makes that the new one is different compared to even save-scumming with an @ that has never seen 50'.

I started playing 1999, first a little bit of vanilla but I soon changed to ZAngband (2.2.8) and didn't change variant since then. I played with hundreds of extra monsters for a while, manually added monsters to the r_info from many other variants. Recently, I realized how unbalancedly difficault it actually was with dragonriders and stuff so I restored the original r_info. The game is more fun now :P
Of course I haven't actively played all these years, just small periods here and there with occasional year-long breaks. I've had a few level 50 characters at least (warriors and chaos-warriors), one was actually doing quite good but died on level 99 by Oberon. Don't laugh! |

I've been playing on and off for about two years, alternating between Vanilla, ToME and NetHack. Never had a winner, but the Vanilla character I have going right now is doing pretty well - maxed stats, level 40, multi-hued DSM, and a nice artifact weapon.

It must be hard switching between Angband and Nethack. I started with Hack and then Nethack, but don't play Nethack anymore, not because I don't like it, but because it's a lot of trouble to rework my mind to fit the stategy and stuff of the game I'm playing because Nethack and Angband have very different strategies and gameplay and stuff.
