hi, sorry to say this but i think someone needs to,
before i get started, please no rage, ee~ as an extreme fanatic of angband, i feel a need to share my mental fears for this game,~ u see, i believe that angband is at risk of becoming terrible, please , now that may seem like harsh words, but take a moment to think if u will,~ please before u get raging ~ i hav been researching older versions and i place version 3.20 as my favorite. anyway: here are my fears, as i have witnessed them, 1: taking away maximize!!~ pleaase no 2: taking away stat restore pot!!~ please please no 3: nerfing the good items alot!!~ please why?, please no 4: talk of disconnected stairs being default or only option!!~ NO!!!!! NO!!!!! 5: talk of % based resist being good in vanilla!!~ please.... 6: talk of giving player less info!!~ ???????? those are my main fears of wat could happen to this, my favorite game! i dont know wat everyone thinks, or maybe i do~! because most these things of which i speak seem to be popular and people want them to happen, to me ~ its dire looking future for me enjoying future versions of angband, if these are true plans, sorry i am not explaining WHY i think these proposed or arranged plans are bad, i think they speak for themselves?? for me they do anyway, sorry for long as post, hoooooo! please no rage, please lmk wat u think

Also, AFAIK nobody wants to remove maximize. I also don't think anyone's considering moving V to a % based system. |

Isn't it obvious? He likes easy games. I think 3.2 is easiest release of the Angband history, so anything that makes game harder makes it less desirable to him.

First of all, if version 3.2.0 is your favorite, then great! It's not going anywhere. If you decide you don't like the next version, then you can keep playing 3.2.0.
However, you have to realize a few things. First, lots of people throw lots of ideas around for Vanilla, and in the end only a few get implemented. Just because some people think that thing A would be nice for vanilla doesn't mean it'll end up there. Second, it's natural to resist changes, even if they're for the better. Instead of getting up in arms anytime something is changed, ask why it was changed, and really listen instead of instinctively reacting against it. You might not agree with the change in the end, but I think you might surprise yourself and find that you can see the good in some changes. For example, the reason that restore stat potions were removed and that stats now restore on level-up is because if you got a stat drained and the town didn't have the potion you wanted, you had to either suck it up and continue, or town-scum for the potion. It's bad if the player feels "forced" to scum. So how do we fix this situation? If restore stat potions are always in the town, then there's not a lot of point to stat draining. So, now there are no restore stat potions, but the effect will eventually clear up on its own. Note that if you drink a potion of strength, for example, it restores your strength first and then gives you an extra point. There are also still other methods to restore your stats -- mushrooms of vigor, for example. If you want the game to be fun for you, your best bet is to suggest additions that you would like, and to comment *constructively* on proposed changes. No one is going to listen to you if you respond to every proposal with "please no!!!" |

1. Not being considered.
2. Already done in nightlies, interesting change, yet to be tested. 3. Because as a result of less junk and such things, good stuff is too common. 4. Why not. There is justification, by moving to a portal system. 5. That makes the game easier, so I don't know why you're opposed. And it's preferred by the majority, including you. This is the second poll which you voted on and then changed your opinion. It confuses everyone. 6. You mean the thread where someone posted an AAR and was afraid he was cheating by turning on a cheat option? That info is not now availible. In fact the only stuff mentioned was taking it off the cheat option list and doesn't in any way affect difficulty. I don't know what the trouble is. You should be glad that there isn't anything more radical being suggested. |

A game that is fun to play is one that you can win each time? I think you do not realize that not every angband game is to be one, although Timo and Powerdiver have impressive records(bookless hobbit mage, ironman artifactless egoless win). They also have had many a sequence of winning chars, but it should be impossible to win every game, especially if you've been only able to win through stair-scumming(and with The One).

hi ill try to get in fast, phillip, sorry but 1 is being considered, see my link,e eee, also i didnt change my mind, please if u read wat i said u will see.. i cant remember other poll u are speaking of..
also gabe i know wat u mean and i know i sound maybe like loz, but believe me ~ i dont think the game needs change, and i think nearly any change suggested ~ if it changes things in a real way, ill be against it... i would be contributing suggestions but i dont have any and i dont think the game needs any, i think it needs protection rather than improvement (which by the looks of it i will see as destruction). edit~~~~~~~~~ NOT FAST ENOUGH!! sorry phillip, i dont care wat the others are doing or how, but i congratulate their wins....... i hav lost about 99.9% more than i have won, and i think thats the same for most people, a game that is fun to me is one where u are free to play in a way u like, not one where options become mandates

ive heard that before , and cunning u are very right, i shouldnt care, but i do , because i have hope for this game, and i would greatly enjoy a version that i find more fun than the current.
on the flipside , i would be sad to see a version that i dislike compared to the previous, even though i could still play old one, i think it would detract from more than the actual game..
