Deeper levels then 5000 ft?
Hi
I'm about to get down to the 100'th level, and I've heard a rumor that there are levels below the one Morgoth wait. What's under there? Can I reach these deeper levels without killing Morgoth? And if so whats the chance to find the last reaming and powerfull artifacts there? I'm holding an *Aqu* scroll to the deeper levels. Should I try it bellow 5000 ft? Thanks Ignatius |

You have to kill Morgy to get any deeper. The levels go all the way down to 127. You won't face anything new, but the chances of the good stuff should increase.

So I shouldn't hope for better equipment from deep under for my battle with Morgoth?
Haven't found neither (non artifacts) BDSM or PDSM or the One Ring. Strangly it's my first player that's still alive at the 4950 ft, and also the first that never found Narsil... |

Sure you may find them eventually (you will get bored to death looking for them though), but in many years of playing and many wins in that time, I have only seen PDSM twice.

You don't need The One or a PDSM to beat Morgoth, and chances are you will die of boredom before getting them if you scum for them at depth 99. Some of the ladder characters with really good equipment are products of first winning the game, and *then* diving to 127 to scum for really good stuff. That's also boring, but scumming 127 after winning is more productive than scumming 99 before winning. (Some people just feel the need to obtain the "perfect equipment set" before they retire --- I've been guilty of this.)

It was years before I realized that 127 was the final level for coding reasons.
I play where the game displays dungeon feet instead of levels. The first time I hit 6350' and couldn't get any lower I thought, wow, somebody must've done research and realized that going any lower would melt you from the planet's heat or something like that. Very detail oriented this angband is...
