Question about up/down stairs alternatives in dungeon

Hi! i wanted to know if there are any difference in all the stairs in the level, i mean, if different "down" stairs, will take me on complete different dungeon generation paths from that point in time that if i where taken another one in the same level, or if all the "down" stairs only differ in the position on the level and all take to the same new level.

As I understand it the level only generates once you actually go down the stairs so effectively "they all take you to the same place". Sort of a "Schrodingers Dungeon" scenario.

I've not tried the "persistent levels" birth option so not sure how it works in those cases.
