Throwing

I'm wondering if anyone is currently running a game where they are in a position to test and confirm if throwing works with the following skills:

Subtlety (if properly equipped)
Assassination
Cruel Blow
*confirmed* Focused Attack
Bane
Master Hunter

I mentioned it in another thread, but those who responded didn't seem sure. I'm doing a build that will eventually be able to test (some) of this, but if someone has already done any of this or is able to do so, it would save me a bit of legwork. Thanks.

I wish I could, and someone will likely soon, answer this straight forwardly, but you might find this helpful for messing around with concepts and ideas and to test things: Debug mode. If you ctrl+a, you get prompted for debug password. Enter: Gondolin. (Thanks Debo, I didn't know pw before he said.)

It will ask you for a debug command. The one I use for testing is e. 'e' will let you change your attributes, but most importantly, let you input a value for your experience. BAM!, now you can just fool around with things. I do this a lot... in fact, I like to play a game where I give a character 45,000xp up front, and spend it all, with the caveat I never spend any more xp. I did this last week... it's really handy.

But, as far as straight up answers, focused attack will work with melee/archery/thrown. If you have multiple attacks, like say, with rapid attack, it will only apply to the first attack.

edit: You might find this helpful, as this wasn't obvious to me at first: Your concentration bonus will stay intact even if you flip between melee and ranged attacks.

Thanks for the tip on debug mode. I'll have to give it a shot.

Throwing only works with melee and perception skills.

Another way to look at this is that stealth combat skills only apply to melee attacks (not ranged or thrown).

None of this really matters, throwing is pretty good if you have (a) high strength for range and (b) finesse, otherwise you might as well just use unskilled archery.

If you do throw, daggers are trash (unless a sharp artefact), momentum helps for throwing axes, otherwise spears are your best bet for damage. I often use throwing axes anyways just because you can carry more of them without burdening yourself.

I did a couple tests with subtlety and it doesn't seem to work with throwing either.

Yeah, it won't -- just finesse, power, and momentum.

So I'm guessing knock back doesn't work either? A shame, could of been funny.

Random question: Does the no-break for throwing mastery work for non-throwing weapons? For instance light sources? If not, I'd like to add it as a suggestion for a little extra utility from that ability.
