Competition 69

Competition 69 is now available from here; it is a Gumband Beastman Warrior. I've gone with highest score for the ranking condition, based on the fact that it's available in the dump ... someone should let me know if that's too silly.

Note that Comp 68 still has 3 days to run.

Is there a list of items you would like to see included in character dumps to help score competitions? I could do a revision of the character dump for the next version or at least the one after that.

Turncount is the simple one, because the default comp score is experience/turns. Deepest unique killed is another criterion that has been used; basically anything that you think makes sense to rank by in your variant would be good to put in there.

Is anyone else having trouble playing fullscreen? I try to maximize, but it stays windowed. Using Vista, ugh (I almost with this my laptop would crash already, so I'd have the impetus to install XP on it.).

I believe Gum has no bigscreen support, so it isn't going to get bigger.

You can increase it by upping the font size, if that's any consolation.

So folks, re-upload your ladder entries (to get scores sorted out)

Big screen support is different than maximizing the screen. You can maximize the screen in the DOS version, not in Windows. I not only don't know how to change this for the Windows version, I don't know where to go to find out. Anybody who does can email me, please.

A couple people have been asking in their competition dumps and I'm curious myself: can you give a quick breakdown of how Gumband's scoring works?

I'll have to do some source diving.

Meanwhile, I have a question of my own. Has anyone else had a problem with the competition savefile? I can't it to work properly on the Windows version (DOS Gumband handles it fine). It will open, but it doesn't save any changes. I've tried turning on autosave and using the ^S save command in addition to my usual ^X save and close. I've redownloaded the file and tried again. But I have no problems with the savefiles I made on my own machine. If anyone has had a similar problem or has an idea what could be causing this, please let me know.
