Hengband 2.1.5 English (Download)
It lives!
Download it here. Built on Windows 7, should work on Linux with WINE. I originally intended to post this at Christmas but got stumped by a crash that I have documented here. For this build I fixed it myself. Of course there might still be any number of bugs I don't know of. Hengband is actually very easy to build (for Windows anyway) since there's a Visual Studio solution included with the source. You just need to remove the JP and SJIS preprocessor definitions and replace angband.rc in the project with ang_eng.rc. What's funny is that the English version has been steadily maintained if not publicized. All the new monsters and such have English names. Even the English world score server still exists: Top 50 Last month Last week Newcome Popular Race, Class and Personality Enjoy! |

Cool beans. Now we actually can get some Hengband 2.x characters on the oook.cz ladder. Maybe the next upcoming compo can be based on this [English] Hengband 2.x release.

Is there an English-translated list of changes for Hengband from 1.7.x to 2.0 and then from 2.0 to 2.1.5? Thanks

I'm late to this party, but thanks for this. I've been aware that Hengband is still being updated, but searched vainly for an English compile. This has long been my favourite variant!

I randomly stumbled into this:
https://osdn.net/projects/hengband/releases/67833 Looks like Hengband is still maintained to this day. Its latest version is 2.2.1. Source code is available here, although in Japanese. Is there anyone available that can translate all this or at least translate its latest Windows version? There is so much to decipher.
