Are you a linux user? Try renaming the file to lib/save/uid.name

For me, that is 1000.Eddie

Simplest would be to start a new game, see what file is created in lib/save, and then overwrite it with the comp savefile.

The first several bytes of the save file just happen to look like the header of a TGA file. Anyway, you can run it with "angband -udwarfpal".

Oh thanks. May I ask how you figured that out? I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with -u1000.dwarfpal which is what Linux told be me the filename is.

Angband used to use uid.charname as the savefile name in Linux (and all *nixes) - and the default uid is 1000. So the -u switch was set to parse that and peel off the character name.

What Nick said, also, Angband, in principle, still has that functionality (if you uncomment "define SETGID" in h-basic.h).

So, just out of curiosity, if I wear an amulet of teleportation am I supposed to just commit suicide? Also, when you step into a non-existent shop the game crashes. Also, the game has squelched two scroll of Remove Curse while I am wearing a cursed item. This is not how squelch should work.
EDIT: Just figured how curses work. Also, I hate everything.

Nah, just keep trying to remove it (and it will be teleporting you in the process, which can actually be pretty useful before you get some staffs of teleportation).
I didn't notice any nonexistent shops... what are they?

One thing that is not obvious and important is that you can restore drained stats/exp in home (press 'R'). It costs 10000 gold.

Ooh, restores are convenient. I suppose there's a manual with this stuff. I'm pretty lazy though.

Normal remove curse only removes the light curse, not the heavy curse. You need *REMOVE CURSE* to fully uncurse the seriously cursed items. So if the item says "singly cursed" a simple remove curse won't help. The other possible explanation is that you disabled the unsquelch_useful_flavors option.

The amulet of teleportation is the most unbalancing change I made in the player's favor. I was trying to make sticky curse interesting, didn't quite get that right.

Sorry about the crash, but what is a non-existent shop? I have no idea what change I might have made that would be relevant to this.

I don't actually think it's your fault. I distinctly remember old V also not liking attempting to enter a shop when you're nowhere near it. It was me trying to enter '5' while bouncing around, and it teleported me before processing my move. Also can happen with word of recall.
