Maybe it is just me, but is slaughtering much of the local fauna not very eco-friendly?

I would imagine that Morgoth's armies of orcs and such aren't terribly friendly to the environment, so really killing a few of the "local fauna" is quite justifiable, if it will help you defeat him...

The thing that puzzles me is where the wood comes from in the first place, given that the universe consists of a dungeon and a town surrounded by impenetrable walls.

I nearly put an addendum forgiving the killing of orcs and evil people and dragons. I was thinking about the wolves and wild cats and mumiaks and bears and such.

You have a contract with Farmer Maggot to protect his crops from vermin. Slaying of non-evil creatures is simply pest-control.

So, we're allowed to kill everyone but Farmer Maggot?

Imported from variants with forests, of course.

About the torches, two slots for torches annoys me to end (in variants, actually, but now it's moved to V). I'd propose something along these lines: 3000 is the full capacity of a torch, any torch in the starting equipment has 2000 charges, light radius diminishes at 1000. Since 1000 + 2000 = 3000, we live in a perfect world. (The absolute numbers are just for illustration.)
