Inscribing rod
It's been a while since I've played Angband, so I may be doing something wrong.
I inscribed the Rod of Trap Detection I found early on with {@z0}. I expected I could (z)ap the rod with z0, regardless of its place in my inventory. But hitting "z" brings up a list of rods in inventory, and their letter names - hitting "0" or any other number key for inscribed rods has no effect. |

You should be able to. Which version are you playing?

Maybe you have bound a macro to 0?

Maybe you have inscribed another item with {@0} ?

Could this be obscurely related to how rods aren't magic items for ID by gnomes?

I am playing 4.0.5. I have other inscriptions (@f0, @w0) which work exactly as intended. In my current game, I'm playing a hobbit rogue, who, on his first dive, picked up a Rod of Identity on level 1 (!).
And I just now inscribed that @z0!d!k!v and was able to zap it with z0. Which is weird; because in my last game (which I was still playing when I made this post) with a now deceased half-elven warrior, I could not get z0 to work; and that was with the same version of Vanilla. So I didn't even bother inscribing the rods on this game. I'll keep an eye out if it happens again, and will post a screenshot. But I guess it could have been some stray key binding. |
