Recently Updated Roguelikes (Roguebasin)

I have just put together a list of Recently Updated Roguelikes at RogueBasin.

87 roguelike games that have been released or updated since 2008.

I would encourage you to check them out, and report missing games / errors (or fix them yourself ).

I deliberately haven't included 7 day roguelikes and similar. Also excluding those that have no page to download the game from.

Does it update automatically when a page is updated on Roguebasin? I went to add DaJAngband to the list and it was already there. cool.

My old variant DaJAngband:
http://sites.google.com/site/dajangbandwebsite/home (defunct and so old it's forked from Angband 3.1.0 -I think- but it's probably playable...)

Hah, I wish.

That was me. In fact by a miracle of precognition I already had it at 1.0.97 before I read your announcement.

(I think I got the version number from your official site link, but you didn't have the release date there so I had that wrong. It should be right now).

Remember this thread?

The Recently Updated Roguelikes list is up to 99 roguelike games now, but I'd like some feedback on ideas for what to do next.

What do people think of the following ideas? (Not mutually exclusive)

1. Keep only twelve months worth of games (e.g. move 2008 Jan to March to a separate page).

2. Remove alpha games from the list (N.B. Some called 'alpha' are quite playable IMO).

3. Change colour scheme to distinguish Alpha, Beta and Stable games.

Any other thoughts?

I went ahead with 1 and (sort of) 3. I could do with feedback on the Text tags I'm using instead of colors.

Were they chosen completely at random?

Which 'they' are you referring to?

The games were copy 'n' pasted from existing lists and the 'tags' for the layout example were chosen to have a fairly similar number of each in no particular order.

If you're referring to the choice of colours / fonts etc. then they were chosen with the intent of vaguely reflecting the meaning of the tag as well as being readable. Other people would seem to agree with you about my aesthetic sense though.

Yes, sorry, I was neither clear nor on topic. The first thing I looked at was which game got which label - and it seems the answer to my question was yes, they are labelled randomly. The tag and colour idea is fine - I think a slightly more muted set of colours might fit in with the general feel of the wiki, though. In fact, this old timer was reminded of headache.map from fractint ...

I'm using real tag assignments on the Recently Updated Roguelikes list itself. But I'm only half finished.

Note that I'm basing the alpha, beta, etc. assignments on the RogueBasin entries for those games.

If you want to suggest a different colour scheme you can put your own version up on the talk page I linked, or post hex numbers for back/foreground colours here.

OK, well I think the tags are a little misleading, then. For example, takkaria has indicated that Angband will be in beta until 3.2.0, but it is listed as stable; the final instalment of FAangband's 0.3.x series has been out 2 months, but it's listed as beta; then there's NPP050-BETA6 (stable), PBR 0.105 pre-alpha (beta), Zaiband 3.0.9 Alpha (beta) ... The 7DRL's are clear, but I don't find the others very useful as they stand. And I'm afraid I don't really have any good suggestions.
