What are the current Angband variants?

I used to play Angband quite a bit, but it has been several years and so have lost track of The State of The Thing. (Is the Dwarf Priest pretty much the mostly likely to win? I remember hearing about that class all the time.)
Is there a document that explains what all the major variants are, and how they differ from vanilla?

Also last time I checked in, people were talking about doing a Middle Earth variant. (not that it isn't based on Middle Earth anyway...)
Did anything come of that?

Welcome back. Dwarf Priest is good, also Dunadan or Dwarf Paladin and High-Elf pretty much anything. Stealthy Kobold Rogue is also a favourite.

I don't know if there's a document outlining variants - no-one's doing an FAQ these days - but looking at the variants tab at the top of the page and sorting by release gives a pretty good idea of what's current.

Middle Earth variant - I don't know. People say a lot of stuff Maybe that's a reference to FAangband (one can always hope).

Unless it was ToME - when ME still stood for Middle Earth?
