Some newbie questions

There are some things I haven't been able to derive from googling/searching here/faqs or guides, so I just wanted to ask some questions.

Is there any way, short of a potion of life or random scrolls/potions, to restory drained stats?

Can you repair acid damaged items?

Can you raise your stats any way other than Potion of X stat?

There are some potions which will raise one stat but decrease another. You can be lucky or not - (exchanging int for strength might help one but the other may have serious problems). As far as i understood it, the names are always different (well, meaningful, but different

).

The only way to restore stats is to drink potions of that stat, potion of restore that stat (i.e. CON), or a potion of augmentation, which restores and increases all stats.

There is also a priest spell that restores all stats (called Restoration I believe; very clever).

Any armor or weapon can be enchanted with scrolls or the appropriate mage spell up to around +9 before the chance of success becomes very very small. Watch out for getting hit with Disenchantment if you don't have that resist, because if your weapon with (+12, +25) gets taken down, you probably won't be able to get it back up with scrolls.

Or eat a mushroom of restoring (which are hard to find).

I found these most often in the Black Market rather than in the dungeon...

Some artifacts can help with this as well. One standart restores XP, while randarts may (randomly & rarely) have restoration activations. Or do that increase on stat at the expense of another deal.

There's also a very rare rod of Restoration, and there's a high-level priest & paladin spell that does the same thing (for a lot of mana.)
