Advices for current situation (dlvl 50, clvl 34)
So this is my character:
http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=13979&ok Luckily, not dead yet. However, i feel a lack of dmg and sustainability (i can't outdamage uniques that can summon, even though they are at a extremely low lvl compared to me). I had a few experiences that were in the same level of the game. A hobbit rogue, a drawf priest and a half-orc paladin. All three died in the 40s dlvl. Mages is alot of fun, even though the early game was brutal. I just don't really want to have my character die like my rogue.(one shot kill from Kavlax because I didn't know how dangerous he is). Something tell me that Exp gain does not equal to rate of dangerous. I'm currently wondering on what should i do now, should i stay in the 40s and max my stats while trying to get some good items (and what should I focus on getting)? Or should I start diving a bit further (some of the normal critters look really nasty after probing). Thanks for the help. |

What about carrying Theoden's Axe as a swap - telepathy is really helpful.
You would also need more con, though I can't really say, because I don't play mages, they always die ... ![]() |

hm. Telepathy as in able to see stuff through walls and hidden in sight?
I usually spam reveal monster, but true, telepathy would be helpful with my spell aiming... Would like to have a revamp on the spell casting part... For example, if I don't see any monsters, I would be able to aim my "ball" skill at any open space I want, so I can hit monsters within the radius but out of my sight. However, when there is a monster in sight, the aiming system forces me to aim my spell on it. Is there a way out of this? |

There used to be short keyboard help for what you can do in comment line when targeting something, but that seems to have been removed for some reason. |

With telepathy you are aware of monsters in a large area around you. There are still some monsters which are not revealed through telepathy. You should cast the spell every now and then, but telepathy may prevent a lot of anwanted surprises ... |

Thanks for the current equipment update.
I'll try both and see which one gives a better result, sting was with me because of the +2 atk speed when I was on low stat. But I guess Orome and THeoden may serve a better use now. Any ideas on the main goal I'm trying to achieve now in this current stage? |

Mages shall run away and spam damage spells, not stab stuff. The old advice of phase+magic missile still holds, although I recommend that by now you use stuff like fire and acid bolt. Try to find a non-theoden source of telepathy.
Orome is too good not to use. 4INT and speed is awesome. |
