Forging with the Sils

On the ascent, you should be able to forge the Sils to make epic but cursed jewelery.

There are several instances of this in canon.

That would be very cool.

Would this lead to a good/'bad' ending system?

Possibly.

It seems weird, the more I think about it, that exiting with Sils is seen as a success, as possession of a Sil usually ended up disastrously for the person concerned. Look what happened to Maglor...

I haven't played the ascent - is it actually possible in practice to forge on the way up, or are there too many distractions with e.g. guys like Morgoth showing up?

Could forging a Sil into a piece of jewelery be worth e.g. 1,000,000 points for the purposes of the ladder? [Edit: or some large number of points that depends on how well you forge?]

Like Nauglafring? Yeah, that necklace only destroyed Doriath and the Havens of Sirion.

Wouldn't possibility to forge your own Silmaril crown be awesome? I guess Morgoth's one is a bit too big for wearing, but a nice elf-sized crown with Silmarils embedded into it... So cool.

Even if you killed morgoth the sheer quantity and relentlessness of the enemies on the ascent would make forging a huge headache and not fun. You'd have to re-start the process every 2 or 3 turns. Sort of like when an orc scout is near you when you're using the first forge, x 1000.

On the other hand, pretty much the most insane smithing character ever was made by Psi by heavily abusing forges on the ascent.

The ascent is really not bad at all if Morgoth is gone, imo.
