Nah, you're not mistaken Bandobras. I read through the documentation and it's only free to use for academic & research institutes. I'll keep on looking for a free platform though. When I get a chance I'll try and get in contact with the company and see what they say, you never know.

I was talking about Shiren the mysterious wanderer, actually, but OK.
With such new ideas and technologies it may be difficult to get a free SDK. But who knows?

It's all really cool, but how will you deal with player death? Monsters? Attacking?
If you like outdoor games, why not go play paintball? Or even better (and more roguelike) play a LARP with some friends? I'm not criticising, but just giving ideas about how you could realise your roguelike fantasies.
