3.1.0 beta - Scroll of *Remove Curse* bug
I'm not sure if anyone has already posted this, but I found a major problem (or bug) with the Scroll of *Remove Curse* in Vanilla 3.1.0 beta. I'm talking about the one that supposedly "un-curses" heavily cursed equipment. I just read a Scroll of *Remove Curse* to uncurse Camlost, you know, the heavily cursed set of gauntlets, but it did not work. The brackets changed from {cursed} to {uncursed}, yet I can't take it off. When I wear another pair of gloves, the game thinks the Camlost gloves are still cursed. It says, "The Set of Gauntlets "Camlost" you are wearing on your hands appears to be cursed." But, it is still saying this, even after I read the Scroll of *Remove Curse.* And also, I used the "}" command on the Camlost gloves, and it says, "You have nothing to un-inscribe." Also, I don't recall any items any items in Vanilla 3.1.0 beta having the ability to "re-curse" themselves. And also, Camlost is a heavily cursed artifact.
That being said, did anyone encounter this problem before? I thought the Scroll of *Remove Curse* in Vanilla 3.1.0 beta was supposed to work 100% of the time on heavily cursed items, including Camlost. If it does not, is that the intended behavior in Vanilla 3.1.0 beta? If it is, that's a surprise to me, because that means I just lost another good Half-Orc Warrior. ![]() Thanks in advance. Perhaps also the scroll should be changed. The idea that you have to wield an item before you uncurse it is a little strange. I lost my first scroll, way back when, because I was expecting a prompt to ask which item to uncurse.
Would it be unbalancing to have the various remove curse scrolls work on the pack as well as wielded items? Currently I wield a cursed hat or boots early on so that I will learn remove curse l if I read it unaware, which doesn't matter much but seem wrong somehow. |

I agree with this. It seems cognitive that one would be able to uncurse something in their pack if they wanted to. Not sure about the balancing issue, if there is one. At least it should be very specific about what it can uncurse and what the chances of uncursing is, so people don't equip bad gear. |
