Comp 214
Competition is up. We're playing 4.1.2 with persistent levels on, and we can't recall either. Is it worth going to town? You know the way at least.

People should feel free to use the latest build of master on the nightlies page if they prefer. The only difference from 4.1.2 is that weapon damage and blows are correctly displayed in the examine command.

Gwarl begins with more unusual birth-options for a comp. Persistent levels, yes, that's interesting. Connected stairs is unusual for comps. The hated Selling rather than no-Selling, that's just downright mean, along with having to buy a starting kit. And knowledge of flavors, why, when runes aren't known? That's just an odd choice.

Why is it odd? You can ID runes in-game with scrolls. Less so potions. Persistent levels are on, would you rather quaff id !life or sell id it?

So you'd rather sell-id it. I'd quaff ID it and be annoyed that I quaff-id'd life and it was probably the best strategy.

Gwarl--i usually use-ID everything. My point was no-sell option still lets you ID things in the store if you want to.

But isn't the comp ironman? So there's basically no difference between selling and no selling, since you won't see the shops again...

Not ironman, persistent levels. Given the turncount ordering and no recall trips back to town will have to be considered carefully. Turning selling adds another variable to that calculation.

Ah. Got it. Does Alter Reality work with persistent levels? If so, the limit on levels really doesnt exist for this char. (For a mage faster, returning to town and would take up to only ~200 turns, given created stairs.)
