Opinion: Giving too many blows to a fighter early is just encouraging it to ignore positioning.

Another opinion: Armour matters more if combat is more swingy

Final opinion: All opinions change based on how easily I can kill the Balrog with a dwarf paladin

Yeah it's fine, just some early-mid level stuff has to lose hps. Might save me some powering up of orcs

Adjusted again & dwarf/elf paladins get up round 2 now with a dagger. I vaguely remember ages ago when iron spikes vanished that monster door bash was broken & it was guaranteed or near guaranteed to succeed. It was fixed by removing iron spikes. I'll see if I can change that. Don't care much about the spikes but getting wizard lock in would be nice.

Edit: I'll give another of my reasons for dropping warrior blows. I'm over warriors not having an early game. With it taking about 15 dlvls before warriors get to play too. I guarantee my numbers are out of whack, but how in whack are vanilla numbers? For what small fraction of the game do they actually work well?

I feel a bit like I'm whining, criticising or bitching about everything in Vs balance. However look at the feature branch comp. That's Morgy not the Balrog people are brutalising on turn 5, character level 2. Pretending V doesn't have serious balance issues... What am I meant to do, cut off the last 30 character levels??

Anyway time to get less worked up, get something working I can test & muck with.

Played a human rogue a bit & the lower damage is good in the early game & then you get beyond a certain depth & it's just not... so I'm going to play with this a bit. Oddly enough I don't think you need to be doing 30 damage on a dlvl with a max. hp of 6. And 4 blows is capable of taking 4 at once, you're lvl 1 for god sake.

So first I'm going to see if I can get light weapons to crit via. accuracy as a way to start gaining some damage. If I can't find anything subtle I'll try enchant weapon scrolls.

Ok after crashing it a few time trying to use a divisor in an integer calculation I've made crits easier which seems to improve the situation. So the heavier weapons crit the easiest, the light weapons crit higher levels easier but a heavier weapon crits harder/crit level just from the base damage. So it's actually both very simple & utterly confusing, I'll have to try again to get crit chances to display so I can see what it's doing.

Edit: =Bodykeeping, =Reckless Attacks, =Dog all got merged into =Dog so we'll see how that goes.

A bunch of uniques rebased as undead. They should only show up as OODs anyway.
