3.5.0 a few things
Ive been playing ironman paladin and keep dying from lack of phase door. Everything is fine till the midgame when the fire damage starts. Even without actually using phase door scrolls, they burn away faster than I can find them.
My latest attempt found some gauntlets with fire immunity, but not a single scroll of phase door for the next 10 or so levels and eventually died when portal didnt go off in a dangerous situation. You probably want to increase the drop rate. As it is, red book casters have no problems thanks to early blink while green book casters and warriors hit a wall. Then theres the poison issue. I like to play fast and despite the game being turn based, enjoy it if there is a flow to the play. I make heavy use of macros; in particular, I have 3 different macros for resting. Unfortunately, being poisoned disables them and destroys the flow. Meleeing for example a pack of Algorths can poison you for literally hundreds of turns. While there are ways to cure that, it often happens that the only or at least most opportune option is to wait out the effect. So I go to a safe corner and Press rest key. Check to make sure no monster is approaching. Press rest key. Check to make sure no monster is approaching. Press rest key. Check to make sure no monster is approaching. Press rest key. Check to make sure no monster is approaching. You get the picture. In situations like that I hate the game, get angry and quit. It would be easy to do something like cap the poison duration to 10 turns or so. The effect on danger level would be negligeble. Or maybe devise a way to make rest work while poisoned - as long as hit points are positve, poison hp loss shouldnt interrupt rest. I wonder if I am the only one who is getting annoyed by this. If anyone has some other idea how to not make being poisoned a real-time drag I would be grateful. |

I've been wanting a rest-through-poison-or-graze-unless-0-hp-or-something-else-interrupts-me command very much.

I guess we can discuss altering the default disturb options, and have it not disturb for counter induced effects.
So we'd disturb whenever
anything else? |

Mm, I'd suggest making the "rest even if HP are reduced" thing be a different command (or at least a different input to the R command; perhaps use "%"?). Personally, resting even if your HP are going down feels weird.
We've discussed in the past having varying levels of poison severity. One simple way would be to have the amount of damage you take, and the speed with which the poison timer decreases, both depend on how long the timer is. For example, damage = timer reduction = min(1, (timer / 5)). So if the timer is greater than 10, you take 2 damage per turn and the timer decreases twice as quickly. If it's greater than 100, you take 20 damage per turn and the timer decreases by 20 per turn as well. Et cetera. |
