macro - light thee dark roomie!
I've been trying to create a macro that lights up my surrounding.
All my light items are inscribed by 3, e.g. rod of illumination {z3} staff of light {r3} scroll of light {u3} phial {A3} I want to have a macro that tries to activate 3, then tries rods 3, then staff 3 then lastly a scroll 3. That way I will have a macro that will last me up through the various stages of a character levels. I seldom (never) have more than one set of light source, but it doesnt hurt if the macro tries all 4 of them I tried with: A3\ez3\eu3\er3\e But both the activation and the read scroll doesnt clear itself with the \e, so it stops. A z3\eu3\e works though.

correction that only works if you have no rods...
so I'm back to square one. Anyone know how to do this?

If it just isn't clearing the messages, then using multiple \e between the different attempts should work.

psi is right. But more importantantly, it's dangerous to make a
Command that may use multiple turns, especially if a likely sideeffect of the first action is to wake up a potentially dangerous monster. It's not that unlikely to be carrying both the phial and a rod of illumination at the same time. |

I changed macro to A3\e\e\ez3\e\e\eu3\e\e\er3\e\e\e got no activation items, but I got a staff of light, now macro stops at "zap which rod?" and yes I got an uninscribed rod of light.....

You are quite right. If you have no rods in your inventory, then it does work, but if you have a rod, then it refuses to register the \e. Not sure what you can do about that.

That would solve it.
