New to forum

Hey Angbanders, first time on forums but been playin for a couple of years off and on.
Have my best character/game ever going atm, and I get a lot of good advice lurking here.
Anyway, Ive begun to want to edit some of the lib/edit files, but must be doing something wromg as every time I do it corrupts my install. I play Vanilla 3.4 mainly, and on a tablet. Any help appreciated!

The relevant entry for, say, Dexterity is

Code:
N:313:Dexterity
G:!:d
I:75:4
W:30:0:4:8000
A:40:30 to 100
M:10:2
F:EASY_KNOW
E:GAIN_DEX
You should be able to change the A line to read other values.

A:40:10 to 100 will make it drop at level 10
A:100:30 to 100 will make it drop at level 30 but be (roughly) 2.5 times more likely to drop.

If it crashes when you do this, I'm not sure. If you want to attach your modified object.txt file I can take a look at it.

Do you get any specific error?

Yeah. One thing that sometimes happens is that your editor could be using a different newline character, which could be messing up the parser. I don't know if that's still an issue though.

It might well be if the editor is not UTF-8-friendly.

This happened to me with one of the windows XP base editors. Try opening your modified file in something that has a tendency to display everything in the file, or redownloading and modifying the file in an editor commonly used for coding. Notepad++ is what I use, but if you're working on a tablet, you may have to port the file over onto a computer. Actually you might be best off making all your changes on a computer, tablet OSs have a lot of arbitrary rules and are hard to manipulate.
